We have been to a few clambakes here, as well as a several weddings over the years. The food is excellent and the personnel well trained and gregarious. The restaurant area, bar area and bathrooms are all very clean. The bar is very small, seats about 6 patrons. They do have a few high tables in the bar area, but this is essentially a restaurant with a large seating capacity for dining. Several flatscreens adorn the walls if that is your thing. At this time there is only one beer on draught...Narragansett. Great price though, $2.00 for 16oz. They have equipment for at least 8 more draughts and will presumably offer these when business picks up. There are however about 30 different bottled/canned beers. They have all the big brand names and also a nice selection of microbrews. They have a full bar, plenty of restroom facilities and appear to be a great place for kids. Nice menu and everything appears to be competitively priced.
Recently was part of a wedding that was at this venue bridesmaid). Venue was beautiful but beware of the food and staff. Staff was supposed to set up centerpieces and DID NOT. They were no where to be found. Their excuse was that they were drying off the chairs because it had rained. True........ but how many people does that really take??? Delegate your staff! Myself, a few other bridesmaids and close family members not in the bridal party had to set everything up!! About 30 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start guests were arriving and the centerpieces weren 't on the tables!! We scrambled to get them together in time. We had to ask several times to have the dessert donuts) refrigerated. Staff kept forgetting and they were left in the sun for at least an hour even with multiple reminders. Food was plain old bad- chicken was very small and dry not bbq at all). Clambake was a mess- they did not offer butter with the clams and when guests asked for it they were told NO. Staff was supposed to help break everything down at the end of the night- HA! Again, they were nowhere to be found!!! Our entire family was collecting everything and organizing when they shut the lights off on us!! Yes- they knew we were there, we could see them where they were standing when they shut them off! We yelled and asked for them to be turned back on but they ignored us. I cannot remember the coordinators name but she was extremely rude both at the rehearsal and throughout the wedding day. She made it clear that if anything was forgotten/left behind the night of the wedding, it was being thrown away. She was extremely rude and argumentative with everyone including with/to maid of honor and mother of the bride. Bride and groom have tried contacting venue several times and it wasn 't until they started leaving bad reviews that they got a response!!! Giving 2 stars because the venue was pretty. Staff and food ruined it :
Beautiful grounds, nice venue, clean bathrooms. Terrible service, terrible food and expensive for what they offer.
I don 't even know where to start! From the first time my now husband and I went to look at Francis Farm we fell in love! We were looking for a very casual, rustic, fun place to have our wedding. We have been to a ton of weddings and we really wanted somewhere unique; well we sure did find it!!! After looking at 10 other venues we decided that Francis Farm was the perfect venue! For those of you who haven 't been to Francis Farm you must go!!! They have public clam bakes throughout the year and a bunch of other events. Just to go walk around and see the grounds it would be worth it. It is such an unique place! There are 2 sides to the venue so there can be 2 weddings going on at once. At first this worried me but we did not even know another wedding was going on during ours until after the fact! They keep the 2 sides very separated. We met Odete, the event coordinator, on our initial tour and loved her almost as much as the venue! She was so friendly and helpful! We booked almost a year in advance and I am sure that I drove Odete absolutely crazy with my non-stop emails but she was never anything but nice to us! We took our parents on a tour, I took my matron of honor on a tour, we did our engagement photos there and we went to the Father 's Day clambake there so we were there a lot! On a couple of instances we had the chance to meet Ken, the owner. Another super friendly, accommodating person! Odete helped with just about everything from helping me decide what napkins went best with what chair covers to helping us pick our food choices. She even bustled my dress for me during the reception! My husband and I had an absurdly large bridal party (9 on each side) which was a lot for Odete, our JOP and our photographers to handle during both the rehearsal and while taking photos and Odete was efficient and stern in the nicest way possible. We got married on the Francis side of the venue. Our original plan was to get married behind the pavilion under a chuppah, our rain alternative plan was to get married under the pavilion. Well when we got to the rehearsal and it was raining and expected to rain the entire next day, Odete could tell that I was less than thrilled to get married under the pavilion so she came up with a new idea, to get married in the tractor museum. We both instantly loved the idea! I can honestly say that I am actually happy that it rained because getting married in the tractor museum was so perfect and unique and Odete made it look so beautiful!!! The food was delicious and everyone was stuffed! We did the clam bake and had the bbq chicken and pasta primavera as our alternative options. We have gotten so many compliments on the food! The servers were great, the bartenders were great, everything went great! We had the cocktail hour set up on the pavilion it was perfect. There was corn hole, giant Jenga and a bonfire! I really cannot say enough good things about Francis Farm. So many of our wedding guests have already told us that they plan to go to one of the clam bakes next year. Odete is a truly genuine, caring person. She really wants for your day to be perfect and does everything in her power to do so!!! If you are looking for a uniquely amazing venue then definitely take a look at Francis Farm, you will not regret it!!!
Have gone to all but 1 summer concert series. The music has been great. However the food is subpar, tiny clam cakes and no clams in them. The clam chowder was tasteless and basically potatoes in clam broth. The line at the bar is very long. Typically they run out of draft beer early in the evening. Beer from the cooler is generally warm as well. The Owner/manager stood at the bar and chatted while 30 people stood waiting, instead of getting behind the bar and helping.
