If I could give this place no stars I would, this place is a DUMP. Upon arrival there 's a truck sitting out front on blocks-that should have been the first red flag, but no, we gave them the benefit without a doubt. We proceed to the front office, which the doors were locked, the place was deserted-we went to every door looking for someone and could not find a soul. Finally, we found a young lady who looked to be cleaning , she tried to help us but she could not speak any English, she called her manager and then did a translation with her phone to let us know she was going to her house to get the key to the cottage we had booked for our Valentine 's weekend. While waiting for her to come back- we took a look around, first of all there is trash ALL OVER the property, beer bottles in bushes, holes in the deck. The pool was open it was black filled with debris, they said they have a year round hot tub, this was a joke- it was filthy and freezing cold. Finally, the lady came back and handed us the key, which we weren 't able to open the door with, she then showed us you have to jiggle the door just right to get it to open. We walked in, the room was so dusty and looked like it hadn 't been used in years, it was freezing cold, the thermostat was broken, the smoke detector was constantly beeping, there was trash and lighters in the room. We asked to speak with a manager to which a man showed up in a tree service truck, barely spoke English and had a super creepy appearance (not to sound judgmental) but the point is- I felt like we were in the making of a horror movie. He acted as if there weren 't any issues as we told him we wanted to cancel for a refund that the property was nothing like the online description. He called another man who he said was the owner , while speaking with him we told him that we just wanted to cancel and have a refund that we had not even met anyone to check-in with, that we weren 't happy and we just wanted to get our money back. This man said he had to have proof from the manager to be able to do anything and that he couldn 't take our word for it. This owner has to know how horrible the premises are. He said he would communicate with my boyfriend on Monday to finalize the cancellation once speaking with the manager. Still no response from this owner . Save yourself the headache and stay FAR away from here.
The pub just reopened a few days ago after being closed a couple of months for some transitioning to new ownership. My wife and I frequented the pub weekly before the closure and were excited to go back as soon as it was time. We had a decent dinner during the grand opening, but the service was struggling to keep up with a moderate crowd. The new owner did come around to ask how our experience was and we gave honest feedback, which seemed very well received. We returned for dinner again this evening for a 2nd try. Highly disappointed with service, once again, but the food was just sub-par. The bartenders were not very attentive and the meals came out less than acceptable. I almost returned the wings for being lukewarm questionably done. The less meaty ones were hot, but the drumsticks were very borderline. I wasn 't sure if they weren 't cooked thoroughly enough, or that they just sat several minutes (cooling off) before served. The side I ordered was a very small portion and had the consistency of something that had been re-heated. My wife 's meal was served missing some items that were supposed to be included with the meal. The bartender brought them after the fact, but then got distracted and didn 't finish with the condiments. This place was not busy at all, in fact, there were just 8 or 9 people in the pub and two bartenders. All in all, the price was roughly $40 for what we had and the quality was extremely poor. I am really hoping that the new management takes notice and fixes these issues before they become systemic. The pub was a great bar food dinner drinks place before and I 'm seriously hoping it bounces back. Lots of regulars enjoy their evenings there, but if it continues in the direction its headed I 'm not so sure it will retain the loyal clientele. We 're not giving up yet, but surely our experience needs to change for the better.
My dad had an Angus burger grilled to perfection with a mountain of onion rings, and I do mean a mountain! The portions of both our entrees were magnificent. I had a turkey/bacon club and brought half home for lunch tomorrow. The restaurant was almost all ours except for a couple talking to the bartender who made a roaring, welcomed fire in the stone fireplace. Sunday evenings are much quieter at the Inn, so it gave us a nice environment to catch up.
Not much I can say besides this being our first disappointment at Inn at Kelly 's Ford. Our past main dining room dinner as well as our canoe trip both reviews under Inn at Kelly 's Ford here at Yelp were wonderful. Our post canoe trip lunch here at the pub, not so wonderful. We arrived at the pub post canoeing this past Wednesday just as they were opening 11:30 a.m. . It was such an absolutely gorgeous day that we decided to dine out on the patio to best enjoy the fabulous picture postcard pastoral views. Waitress promptly arrived with menus to take our drink orders. We both decided on Kelly 's Ford Red Ale , which ended up being the highlight of the meal apart from the lovely view . Decided to share an order of Fried Clam Strips w/ Cocktail Sauce as an appetizer. It arrived promptly. Huge batter dipped strips of clam that had been fried to a dark brown. We felt lucky we didn 't chip any teeth. Cocktail sauce was chock full of horseradish as a fan, could 've eaten that stuff with a spoon lol! For entrees, husband ordered a fried fish sandwich with side salad; I went for the Angus burger with side salad. This is where things went really pear shaped. There were a few guys sitting inside at the bar no tables taken , no other party except us outside, yet we sat there for a full 30 minutes before our sandwiches came out. Really?? Fish sandwich burger were just meh , with side salad a thrown together mish mash of large lettuce leaves some token tomatoes lots of raw onions ??? . Husband can 't eat raw onions, so that was a washout for him. Bonus though for the terrific blue cheese dressing, which was full of large chunks of blue cheese. And right before our meals finally arrived, a party of four who were obviously staying at the Inn showed up monopolized the one waitress who was a bit on the surly side to begin with with inane banter we were close enough to hear . Now I do understand how the staff is most likely instructed to keep the guests happy, but when the SOLE waitress LEFT the restaurant to get a golf cart to ferry these guests to Lord knows where they left their drinks on the table hadn 't even ordered yet, but apparently just HAD to see something immediately , that was approaching the last straw for us. We did sit there like idiots until the group returned, but when the waitress continued to stand at their table talking talking talking that was IT. We picked up our check went into the bar to pay the situation was just RIDICULOUS RUDE!!!! Funny how waitress suddenly ran into the bar as we were leaving; we 're guessing she finally woke up was afraid we were trying to beat the check lol! Bottom line for this travesty? $47.43 which included a $9 tip don 't know why we bothered with the tip for one appetizer, two sandwiches, two beers, neglectful service. While we 'll be happy to dine again in the main dining room restaurant or repeat our lovely canoeing experience, we won 't be returning to the pub. Frankly, the local Glory Days chain blows this place out of the water food wise.
