Our last evening out was total disappointment in a highly reviewed restaurant in Ottawa. We now think the reviews were written by family and friends because it in no way lived up to the hype. It was LOUD, cramped, and the food was absolute mush. This gem, on the other hand, carried no hype, and yet was such a pleasant experience. My wife's souvlaki was perfectly seared and yet so tender and juicy inside. My chicken and ribs were just so good I still have a smile on my face from them back at home. The roasted potatoes in both of our dishes were just delicious! I would be happy with a whole platter of nothing but them! My wife and I have just found our new favorite restaurant. So thankful for such a nice evening.
Three meals and three different results. Chicken souvlaki meal was great. Seafood platter was quite good but served with fries. A salad would have been prefered but fries seemed to be the default. Spanokopita was very disappointing. Phyllo pastry was charred and there was no spinach despite the menu identifying it as phyllo spinach pie . Server did not seem all that interested when we responded to her question about the meal. I guess 2/3 was good enough for her. Atmosphere lovely and good value for money with noted exceptions. Would we return? Probably, but not for spanokopita!
We enjoyed our seafood platters with fries and coleslaw. The calamari and scallops melted in your mouth. Cooked to perfection. Lots of food and even had leftovers for the following day’s lunch.
Although if purports to be a Greek restaurant and has a gyros on its menu, it is more of a small-town menu, designed to cater to the local population. Service was good and food was acceptable. Although the place was not busy, while being clean, the men's washroom hand drier was out of order and paper towel dispenser was empty.
Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! We were 3 for lunch. The new locations a few doors down from old one) is very nice inside with plenty of space to social distance. Menu is extensive which always worries me that they do a lot and maybe not anything really well BUT this was not the case! Our meals were Kara’s salad, Chicken gyro wrap with fries and Greek salad and beef gyro wrap with fries and Greek potatoes. My 2 friends loved their meals. Salad was huge with lots of toppings and chicken. She loved the house salad dressing. I thought the grilled mushrooms to be odd on a salad but she said they added and were delicious. Chicken gyro platter my other friend got equally good reviews! Golden fries, pillowy soft pita and lots of chicken in pita with homemade Tzatziki. I had the beef gyro platter with Greek salad and Greek potatoes. The pita was warm and melt in your mouth soft. Lots of beef and topping with delicious home made tzatziki. Salad was delicious! Their house Greek salad dressing was very good and it had big chunk of feta, black olive, tomatoes etc. The Greek potatoes were not a familiar style to me but were well seasoned and very good. I’m used to a more lemony flavour but again their style was delicious. If you are in Renfrew I highly recommend this restaurant. Staff were attentive and lovely as well!
