We spent quite a bit, but the chicken was very dry and stringy, which seemed like low quality. I really should have returned it. We ended up throwing away a lot of the meat and were just left with masa. The music was too loud, and it took a long time for us to receive our food, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded.
This review focuses solely on the tamales. While the staff was friendly, the chicken tamales we tried were spoiled. The corn was fine, and the jack cheese with jalapeño was okay, but we had to throw away all four chicken tamales. Unfortunately, the quality was lacking. It was clear that the tamales had been reheated, as the masa was wet and smeared all over the corn husks. Additionally, the masa inside the husks didn't even stick together, which is a telltale sign that something is off—good tamale dough should bind properly. I ordered a dozen, and while the portions were generous, the taste was disappointing, so I won’t be returning. I always aim to support small businesses in the valley, but this experience didn’t meet my expectations. Again, the staff was lovely, but perhaps this style of cooking just isn’t for me.
They advertised themselves as having the best tamales in the San Fernando Valley, so I had high hopes. While they weren't the absolute BEST I've tried, they came quite close. The staff was very friendly, and I appreciated the wide variety of options available. I also sampled their breakfast burrito with bacon as my protein choice, and honestly, I enjoyed it much more than the tamales. I'll be returning specifically for that! The portion was generous, and it wasn't dry like some other places. Overall, I was quite satisfied and would rate it around 4 and a half stars.
Good place to buy a Tamale!! Tastes like home made!! Anb very nice People!!!Kid-friendliness: Very nice Workers!!!
My wife and I have enjoyed this spot for over five years, with the workers and owners conversing, and interacting with us kindly. The last three times we’ve been there, have involved the worst service imaginable. I even tried to shout out to one of the managers to congratulate him on how much weight he’s lost, but he ignored me completely. We just ordered two burritos and straight up walked out because of how poor the service was. Keep the money. Do not go to this place. No empathy. No consideration. No thought
