The toppings are all fresh and high quality, the service is great and the owners are lovely! The pizzas are also very well priced and they have vegan options too and also make pizzas using gluten-free flour. I love that we have a real pizzeria now in Pascoe Vale South where I can go to practice my Italian, have a great meal, and and all round lovely night out. Highly recommend checking it out!!
Entering Shop 225 pizzeria it reminds me of the modern pizzerias I enjoyed in Italy. Great pizzas cooked in the wood fired oven, a chance to practice the rusty Italian trying to interpret the conversations on both sides of the counter, trying to navigate between the cosy tables and the take away trade coming and going. Great care is given to everything going in that oven. Oh and tiramisu is pretty great too. It's a great addition to the area.
We had read such great reviews we were excited about our visit. Parking was a bit hard but no matter. Greeting staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful and we got a table although the restaurant is very small. Cooking smells were enticing. We ordered an "Il Dottore" pizza and a buffalo cheese and tomato salad. Service was speedy and excellent. The pizza was bland due to a small amount of calabrian sausage and large chunks of italian porcini. The base was bubbly and tasty but so thin it collapsed in the centre when picked up by hand (causing the porcini to fall off). The pizza cheese was beautiful. The salad was disappointing. The tomato slices were watery and tasteless (just like supermarket tomatoes) and it had only two basil leaves! As the reviews have been so good we will try again.
What a hidden gem this place is! This is real, authentic, great tasting pizza, made by wonderful, friendly Italians. The pizza is thin crust, authentic wood fire pizza with a variety of great toppings. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The service and delivery of the food is exceptional. It is a small shop, with limited seating inside and out, but do not let this deter you. Very proud to now call this my local pizza place!
You don't normally associate Pascoe Vale South with artisan dining and takeaway, but, in the northern suburban heartland, which happens to be my home suburb, is a wood fired pizza place that would not be out of place anywhere in Melbourne.Shop 225 Pizza is a tiny shopfront near the tram stop at the corner of Bell and Melville Roads. There are only a few seats, and, at time of writing, no liquor licence. The decor is very simple, but warm. The staff are lovely! Friendly, smiling, helpful, and welcoming. But here it's all about the pizza, and the pizza is **** sensational! Thin crust, wood fired, quality toppings, reasonably priced. What they can make on site, they do. The rest is top quality. They don't have a huge range, but the classics are covered, along with a few of their own creations. You'll struggle to get better anywhere. You can finish off with their excellent tiramisu, or you can hop on a tram and sample the outstanding gelati from Minots, just down the road on Melville Road. The culinary gentrification of Pascoe Vale South has begun! Get on board and enjoy.
