La Poblana - Reykjavik

On a busy Saturday night in Reykjavik we were struggling to find somewhere to eat. We were in the bar downstairs from La Poblana so decided to give it a try. It was full when we walked in so we waited to see if we could get a table. Despite the restaurant being small and the two waiting staff clearly seeing us waiting neither came over so after 10 minutes I had to flag one down. He was a teenager who looked like he’d rather be anywhere else and gave no indication of how long our wait would be. Eventually the other server came over and took our drinks order but we still weren’t sure if we get a table. 10 more minutes later and we were given a table. We wouldn’t have minded the wait if we’d have been given some idea of what was happening. We enjoyed our food, fish tacos, a chicken burrito and nachos. Everything was fresh and flavoursome. My wife’s margarita wasn’t great though. The teenage waiter spent most of the night either stood two meters from us with his arms folded watching over everyone eating or worse texting away on his mobile right next to our table. Based on other reviews it looks like we were just unlucky with the night we visited but we won’t be rushing back

Some of the BEST tacos in Iceland! Hands down! ALWAYS make a stop to this spot! A MUST! We ordered a plate with different kinds (vegan, chorizo and another kind) The whole table RAVED about their choices.

We found this place randomly whilst shopping. They could do a much better place advertising the restaurant from the street. It was an informal Mexican lunch but for what it was, it’s a great place to stop for lunch. I ordered the special Tacos which were just sublime. So fresh and tasty and it came with a gravy which I’m still thinking about….. Such a lovely surprise. Best and most authentic tacos ever

Delicious Mexican food with spice, flavor and a generous portion. Sitting atop another restaurant, it is easy to miss the entrance but don't give up. Attentive staff, delicious food and a cosy atmosphere. Consider visiting here!
