The Rickards Arms - Rhondda Cynon Taf

We went to Rickards on a Thursday night, as we usually do. While enjoying our drinks, the bartender asked us to move (not very nicely) because we weren't participating in the quiz. Reluctantly, we moved to the designated area. However, after 10 minutes, he not only yelled at us, but also other customers to be quiet while we were just chatting. We felt insulted and frustrated. We had already moved from our preferred seating, and now we couldn't even talk. This bartender could use some lessons in customer service as his behavior was rude and inconsiderate towards local patrons. Mr. Otley should have a talk with him.

Earlier this year I met up with my cousin who was home from Spain. We both ordered the fish and chips, which were homemade and cooked perfectly. The portion sizes were great and our meals were very reasonably priced. We were met by a lovely member of staff who had a smile for everyone. Several weeks later I returned with my partner, son and both sets of parents. My parents both had the homemade chicken curry served with rice, chips, a poppadom and chutney. I had the chicken burger with chunky chips, my partner had the mixed grill (chicken breast, sausage, steak, prawns, chips, peas and onion rings). My partners parents both chose fish and chips. There was a children's menu and our son had gujons, chips and beans. The meals were fantastic value for money and the mixed grill was enormous. The family friendly pub was very relaxed with a down to earth feeling. We can't wait to return again soon.

Loved my first visit to this pub for Sunday Lunch earlier this year but disappointing experience today. Fabulous choice of veg but the beef was slightly tough. My dessert was burnt and inedible. I chose crumble but couldn 't get the spoon through it. My mate had the same and hers was very dry but not anything as bad as mine. I told the waitress who said 'sorry '!

Was invited out to lunch by my daughter for Father’s Day, I had never heard of the place or where it was but what a fabulous meal and dessert. Staff were terrific

Comfortable enough, food is good as i recall but the choice of real ales is just about nil. Isn't that why most people go to pub, good beer? Surely that comes before an enjoyable evening with family /or friends? My brother i left after what was a poor pint.
