The restaurant is lovely with most of the tables being outside in a lovely courtyard. There is an extensive choice so all of us were happy and prices are good. Everyone loved there food, I chose the andouillette as we cant get that in Ireland, my daughters chose salade correzienne which was huge and they loved it. Everyone was happy, my only gripe would be the chips were reheats but they had a staff issue on the day so maybe it was needs must. The desserts were also fab ,I had strawberry melba and it was really good. All in all a great lunch in relaxing surroundings. Well done to the staff for coping with the crowd being shortstaffed. The toilet is very quirky :
This is one of our favourite restaurants in the middle of the countryside: Beautiful decor and excellent food! Well worth the visit! Need to book though it is very popular!
We found this by chance on the way back from Rambouillet to Houdan, having found nowhere that appealed to us for lunch in Rambouillet. We have just return from our second visit. Our starters today were a tasty brûlée of goats cheese and I had pate de Houdan, a chicken pâte of a particular local breed of chicken served with mushrooms in pastry. I had offal on both occasions, kidneys and today liver. My wife also enjoyed the kidneys, well the perfume of them. I reeked of garlic for two days. I like my meat generally pink, and today's liver was about as soft as my wife's delicious scallops. She said that they would have been improved today by having a sauce with them, but still were very enjoyable. Although this was only our second visit there were many handshakes and welcomes, as if we were local residents. We would certainly return if in the area. Having carefully checked the opening times. It's closed Sunday and Tuesday evenings and all day Monday.
This place is a gem in the middle of nowhere. It's a brocante by day and a bistro for lunch and dinner. The menu is extensive and all freshly prepared in house. We enjoyed it so much we went twice! The service is excellent Laurent must do a 10k every day in the restaurant and he still has time to explain the food and the wine! Both try wine and the food are very good value. The Languedoc reds are very good and there was a nice Cote de Rhone (Mas Neuf). We particularly enjoyed the calf's liver, duck breast, kidneys dishes. The atmosphere in the courtyard is charming. AR
A comfortable bistro full of character. A good choice of wines. Excellent fresh food. Amiable service. Modest prices for the quality. Finding all of these at the same time is getting rare and judging by the fair number of French people there they too rate it highly. We went back a second time to try out more of the menu all just as good. This is not to be missed.
