Bayview Restaurant - Richmond

With so many restaurants to choose from in Steveston, we returned to Timmy Kitchen for lunch. Our food selection was good, plentiful and good value. When we were there, the owner seemed to know everyone who came in to dine. The fish, crab and lobsters in the tanks looked fresh and the tanks were clean.

We use to love this place because of its great value and good quality. The quality is still good but the prices are high. The owner was put out that we only order the lobster and crab plate and wanted us to pay cash because she wasn't making any money. I felt bad for her my wife felt worse because we only have credit card to pay with. Awkward situation.

We were quite disappointed with this restaurant. When we went in, I wasn't too satisfied with the building (as I'm picky about cleanliness), but we still sat down and ordered. We ordered the Special garlic chicken, and we asked if it was spicy. The waitress seemed annoyed by the question and said no. After about 40 mins of waiting time (and 3 "where's my food!?"), we finally got our food. The problem was, that they gave us the Tangerine Chicken in Szechuan style!!! We talked to the waitress about the wrong order, and she got extremely pissed and told us they weren't going to change it! What kind of restaurant was this!? We were prepared to give them no tip, but when the bill came, they precharged us with 15% tip? What is this??Don't go to this restaurant; its a total ripoff.

Steveston VIllage has many many restaurants, but until a month ago, only one Chinese food restaurant, TImmy Kitchen. We have eaten on site once and ordered takeout twice. That's it, never again. The food is mediocre, over MSG'd, over salted, and bland. If you pick up food and have to wait, you are not offered even a cup of tea as other restaurants do. The location is dungeon like, the bottom level of a building requiring stairs. The wait staff is slow and diffident. I'm glad there is a new Chinese food venue in Steveston.

Always fun to go here. The fish and chips is their specialty but they do serve other good grub. They serve cold beer and can hold a large group. I'd order the halibut rather than the cod fish. I like their coleslaw.
