Yesterday I went with my friends to “Café Loyal”, a small Chinese restaurant at Bridgeport Road in Richmond. We ordered Mixed Grill (Steak, Pork Chop, Chicken Steak, Ham & Fried Egg with Black Pepper Sauce and rice), Free Ranch Chicken in Herb Noodle Soup and BBQ Pork & BBQ Duck on rice. I had the Mixed Grill plate. The pork chop was thin but ok. The meat of the steak was from low quality. The chicken steak appeared to be deep-fried instead of pan-fried and was also not the greatest quality. The thin-sliced ham was certainly also from cheap quality. Also, the taste of the Hong Kong-style coffee was not so great. My friend, who had the BBQ meat plate, agreed that the dishes were rather fast-food quality than a real meal in a common restaurant. It is certainly rather something to fill the stomach than to get an enjoyable meal.2.5 out of 5
My spouse and I came here for a quick lunch around 2:00 PM. When we arrived the restaurant was still half full. The restaurant has seating for about 50 patrons. This restaurant is a self-serve cafeteria style. You choose meals from the LCD TV menu boards by number and then give your order to the cashier.Depending on the meal, your meal comes with a 16 ounce drink including ice coffee, ice tea and Hong Kong coffee. There are other beverage options as well.My spouse ordered the "L32" - $9 minute steak with pepper based brown gravy, corn niblets and spaghetti. The portion size of the steak was around 6 ounces and was tender. Taste-wise, it was okay with a slight peppery taste. She also had an ice coffee that tasted pretty good – slightly creamy and not too sweet. My spouse thought it was a bit on the sweet side.I ordered the "L5" - $8 curry beef brisket with potatoes and rice. The brisket tasted okay and was somewhat flavourful and not spicy at all. I have had better curry beef brisket.I had an ice tea which tasted alright. Her meal included the cold beverage as did mine. The total cost was $17. Menu pricing includes the taxes. The food overall was okay as was the service – none to speak of because it was self-serve. Our order took less than 8 minutes from the time we ordered until we picked it up.The restaurant is not a bad place for a quick, relatively inexpensive meal with the downfall being the lack of parking. I would rate the overall food experience – price, portion size, taste and atmosphere - 3 out of 5.Notes & Tips• Restaurant is located at on the northwest corner of Number 5 and Bridgeport Roads. The strip mall includes a computer store, a pho restaurant and a bank. There is a Wendy’s behind the strip mall.• Parking is very limited in this small strip mall• Check out the restaurant website• Cash or debit card only• The washroom was clean
This establishment brings a real touch of Asia over here. You walk in, check out the digital menu boards, go order, find a seat and wait for them to call your number. This kind of service is very efficient.<br/ <br/ My girlfriend and I came here tonight to try it out. I felt like I was in hk for a moment. The service is quick and very friendly. Our food came out in three minutes, ****, these guys don't mess around. Our food was piping hot.<br/ <br/ My girlfriend got the beef flat noodle, came with a soup and drink for 10 buck tax already included, delicious. The portion is not too little, not too much.<br/ I got D61, the BBQ pork, fried tofu, fried egg, on rice. Delicious. I am really impressed with the service here. The lady and gentlemen at the front desk is very welcoming and friendly. It makes me want to come back again and again.<br/ <br/ Parking is limited at front.<br/ 5/5 for service<br/
I have had only positive experiences with this place!<br/ <br/ This is a place where you could enjoy a quick and nice HK meal.<br/ They hang the menu on the wall where you could go up to the counter and order by the meal numbers.<br/ $10 combo includes the meal with rice, soup and a drink. <br/ <br/ But what surprised me the most was the welcoming atmosphere they have in this restaurant.<br/ They are the most friendly Chinese people I have ever encountered in the Greater Vancouver. <br/ <br/ Although the location is not entirely ideal (It's located at the corner of No. 5 road and Bridgeport Rd. You could either turn into the tiny plaza on Bridgeport or turn on No 5 and go in from where the scotia bank is. , I would recommend this place for take-out food for busy individuals. <br/ One side note about the take out food is that they pack it up really well. As I mentioned earlier, their meals include soup. They packed it up so well that I didn't have to worry about it spilling or anything.<br/ <br/ Overall, I think this restaurant won over me by how friendly and caring they make the customer feel.
