I ordered the Chef's Selection Sashimi for two and it was absolutely amazing. It was a delight to the eyes and the fresh, delicious options were of good variety. The spicy clam was incredible and I especially enjoyed the cold soba, which was very healthy. The assorted Tempura was light and crispy, with not a drop of oil to be found. Overall, everything was first class, the staff was very friendly, and the experience exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a comfortable, Asian restaurant that follows guidelines, then Manzo is the place to go.
The restaurant had arrows on the floors to indicate which way to go and also took our temperatures at the door. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and particularly enjoyed the oyster motoyaki, grilled mackerel, red dragon roll, and grilled beef ribs. The chicken sausage skewer with dipping sauce and raw quail egg, as well as the grilled squid, were just okay. The service was good, with frequent check-ins and offers for drinks. There was plenty of parking available and the restaurant was easy to locate on a main street. Overall, I would definitely return to this restaurant.
I was thrilled to discover that Itamae restaurant had reopened last week after the Covid-19 closure. I had visited a few times before the pandemic, and while I found the restaurant to be very modern with sleek decor, it was also very noisy and attracted a hip crowd - not exactly the relaxing dinner atmosphere I prefer. As a retired teenager, I had decided not to go back. However, when one of my business partners invited me to celebrate their birthday at Itamae, I was hesitant but decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the experience was much more enjoyable this time around. There was plenty of parking available, and the restaurant only had three tables, creating a unique and comfortable atmosphere. The manager informed us that they only accept reservations and operate at limited capacity for safety reasons. We were seated at a lovely corner table for five, and I was impressed by the attention to safety guidelines. This allowed me to savor every bite of the excellent menu without the distraction of loud music and noisy patrons. The sashimi was fresh and visually appealing, the Robata dishes were delicious, and the Teppanyaki beef tongue had a unique and interesting taste. The food was served promptly, and the overall experience reminded me of dining at a traditional Japanese restaurant in California. I highly recommend making a reservation at Itamae for a pleasant dining experience, and it would make a great option for a Father's Day dinner as well.
We decided to try it as we drove past this place many of times and we were very happy with the food and service we had and we will certainly be coming back here again.
My husband and I wanted something different and good while visiting Vancouver. We found it! We had no expectations when we went to Manzo, we just saw it was busy and looked interesting. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed in the traditional way, although we didn’t know that and I had to ask. We got a table right away and green tea was served. We were given menus, that had both Japanese and English along with pictures. We chose what we wanted, and then the waitress asked if we wanted something else other than green tea, in perfect English I might add. My husband wanted Sake, and asked for help and she was more than helpful! Pointed out the good ones and helped us choose as we know nothing about Sake. We picked one, and brought us a 350ml bottle and it was awesome! Then our food arrived! Oh my, it was better than we could have ever imagined!! Please, if you like sushi, you MUST eat here!
