Before this restaurant was renovated, there was no air conditioning. Now, the climate is much more comfortable, especially during the summer months. I used to always allow an hour for takeoff or landing at YVR. This restaurant seems to attract a lot of regular patrons who have a habit of lingering at the tables, so it is not uncommon to have difficulty finding a free table during the busy midday rush.
I haven't protected this unit much since it was renovated. the old timer staff are still there and one or two of the hard customers are still there. The outside terrace is equipped with a few fixed tables and chairs (for...the birdwatchers who enjoy the aircraft take off and land.
The prices and service at this restaurant were standard and met my expectations. I didn't encounter any issues. The food was good. However, the tables could benefit from someone cleaning them up after diners who leave a mess.
What a shame. McDonald's Corporate expended big dollars to renovate this unit but failed in terms of staffing. After waited for several minutes at the window to be served we requested service we continued to be ignored although we could clearly hear joking and laughter...coming from the kitchen. it was only after another 3 or 4 minutes that we managed to attract the attention of the 4 or 5 staff members. All this idle time and yet the tables were in need of dressing.
