The Fish Man - Richmond

Actually second time to visit this place, first time was not that good but this time I have to say is hilarious! The food served with top quantity, seafood is fresh and taste is amazing. I have to high light there services. Keep asking us what we need and bring the dishes really really fast. Two of our group members is having birthday at the same day and the stuff did greeting with them and they received little gift! 15% tips is deserved and definitely will come again!

We ordered raw marinated spot prawns, spicy stir fried clams and lobster sticky rice. All the dishes tasted great, the seafood is fresh. However, they could improve their service, the waiters/waitresses didn’t pay attention to the customers and talked between themselves. We had to call them a few times to get attention.

The grilled fishes are definitely fresh and yummy, skin crispy, although flavor wise it is pretty standard Mala style. It feels like a rip off for the price of grilled fish, especially the side dishes of the fish, $16 for some Napa cabbage, some bean curds, sea weed and lotus root.Other dishes are really impressive, enjoyed the geoduck, fish maw, an interesting steamed sea food mix that includes scallop, oyster, a piece of shrimp and some sea urchin. Thinking next time I'd try all the dishes other than the grilled fish.My partner got a bit food poisoned but I was ok, she is more sensitive to raw food (prob from oyster juice or sea urchin) so YMMV.

Delicious food and great seafood options! Favourite dish is the sour fish soup served in a giant bowl; great quantity and quality! Crab was a little bit dry this time, but the Hong Kong style spot prawn was another stand out dish that I would definitely order again! Great experience overall, tho ambience wise be aware it’s a little loud and a little stuffy. Also if you can’t tolerate spice, you’re going to have a tough time eating here.

Quite a number of varieties to choose from. Some dishes are not fresh seafood so it’s a bit chewy. Fresh seafood dishes are better.Second visit the steam fish is tender and cook perfectly. The crab with egg yolk is a heavier dish. Might be a bit too much rice cake. My second visit experience is better than the first time so I update my review from 3 stars to 4 stars.
