Umi Japanese Eatery Udon - Richmond

I ordered a chicken teriyaki donburi, and I have to ask—why were the vegetables fried in batter? It wasn't what was advertised, and I found it quite disappointing. On top of that, the box I received had a lid that wouldn't close, so I requested a bag and ended up being charged for it. You gave me a lid that doesn't fit, and then I have to pay for the bag? Really? Overall, I can only give the food a 1 out of 5.

The food court is a spacious, modern, and upscale area with plenty of natural light, creating a super clean and relaxing atmosphere. There are numerous food vendors offering a variety of international cuisines, and we were all very impressed with the options available. I chose to eat at Umi Japanese Eatery and ordered their Chicken Bento Box, which was of excellent quality. The chicken was juicy, and the teriyaki sauce was perfectly balanced—not too sweet at all. I also tried their assorted sushi, freshly made, for just $14, which is a fantastic deal! I couldn’t resist trying my favorite, Tako (octopus) for only $8. The menu offers plenty of options, including freshly made assorted sushi boxes for takeout, making it perfect for a quick lunch or snack. If you find yourself at the Dining Terrace, I highly recommend stopping by Umi to experience their delicious Japanese food at very reasonable prices!

Katsu donburi: there were only four small pieces of katsu on top of the rice. Honestly, I’d recommend getting McNuggets instead of choosing this dish.

The food served doesn't match what is listed on the menu. I ordered the chicken bento and received just two tiny leaves of salad instead of the two gyoza that were supposed to come with it. Overall, I find the prices to be too high for the portion and quality of food provided.

I would rate this place from zero to one star. Just look at the picture. No, I haven't even tasted the food yet; this is simply how it was served. It’s barely half full and honestly, it doesn’t look appealing at all. I should have read the reviews beforehand. This cost me $13! I walk by here all the time and thought I'd give it a try today, but I definitely won't be coming back. I feel ripped off.
