The seafood platter came with only two pieces of fish and six dried, salty shrimp, along with an excessive number of ketchup packets and a mountain of salt. The chicken was completely flavorless; it seemed like they just fried it without seasoning and then slathered on some tasteless garlic parmesan sauce. I could even taste the MSG. Honestly, it’s not worth the $18 price tag. You’re better off cooking your own meals at home. On the bright side, the drinks were quite good—I guess they’re known for their drinks alone! I feel like I could just throw this food back at the owner (in a Trinbago accent—lol).
I had the chance to visit another location that was good, but this one claimed to be open yet was closed when I arrived. As a result, I had to return to the other location.
On April 19, 2021, I believe this restaurant may be closed, as I found another location about five miles away on 1464 and Westheimer Road. I must caution you that they seem to use low-quality liquor in their drinks. I had a 32 oz drink over the course of 1.5 hours and felt absolutely nothing. Additionally, they often run out of the various flavors and won’t inform you; instead, they just whip up a drink and mix whatever they have on hand. I can assure you that the quickest way to lose a loyal customer like me is by not providing a buzz. Honestly, it felt more like I was just drinking an Icee.
During my visit today, I ordered two shrimp po'boys and a side of fried chicken wings. Unfortunately, both the shrimp and chicken were cooked in old, burnt grease. The French bread for the po'boys wasn't toasted, and the French fries were undercooked. This was my third time at this location. On my first visit, I had a po'boy and crawfish that left me wanting more—definitely a taste of home for this NOLA girl. However, my second visit was disappointing; the crawfish were so salty that I couldn’t eat them, and I ended up having to throw them away, which felt like a total waste of money. After that experience, I decided to stay away for a while. Today, I thought I’d give Bourbon St. another chance, but I'm extremely disappointed. I really wanted to support this Black-owned business, hoping it would satisfy my craving for authentic New Orleans food.
Always amazing! I had a turkey neck and a daiquiri — what a great combination! The spice level was perfect this time; it was just right and not overwhelming at all.
