Proper Pie - Richmond

Love pies and love Proper Pie! You can buy by the slice or whole. The available pies vary so it's always a nice surprise. With the online ordering on their website you are not paying fees to any platform (pickup only). The pick up is fast and the savory pies are hot off the oven. I have to admit it's very difficult to wait until getting home because the smell is so good. Luckily Patrick Henry Park is just across the street and plenty of benches to sit and indulge some pie . Highly recommended!

Everything I've had from here has been absolutely fantastic. The savory pies, the rolls, the sweet pies...all winners! Definitely check it out. Now for the very few cons: they still haven't opened up their dinning area which is a shame. They make more money so I get it, but it sucks not having a place to sit down anymore. Also they ask for tips in a very awkward way when it's a fast food restaurant. There is no service but they expect you to add a tip. Lastly I do feel like the food is a bit overpriced. Certainly more of a treat than something you could regularly get at a bakery.

Ok for a novelty meal...the pies are ok, but extremely expensive...in an out of the way location with very limited parking. If you find yourself close and want a different meal sure try them..Do not go out of your way to get one...

After living in Richmond several years I FINALLY made it to proper pie for food and dessert. It was so good, it's a walk up cafe style order, and then you can sit outside. It was a lovely day out so we grabbed food and dessert. Everything was sooo delicious and I loved all the vegetarian vegan options. My spinach roll had feta and chickpeas in it. And the pie slices were delicious. It's not super pricy for two people to get a savory and sweet pie, it was like $30-40 with tip. Definitely recommend!!

This place is such a good takeout pie place. I was never really a pie person until I came here. Their savory and sweet pies are a hit every time. The crust is so flavorful and flaky. I miss their dine in area but I understand why it's only takeout now. The service is always so quick but make sure to show up early before they sell out. They are also only open Wednesday-Sunday. Everyone that works there is very nice and welcoming.
