Sugar's Crab Shack - Richmond

When I first went here 2 years ago, it was GREAT!! Now it's just ok. After Covid like everywhere else, I guess they lost employees. So, of course, prices went up, and the line is longer than ever because you have to wait longer because of staffing,but they still give you a lot of food. And I love the potato salad, and a few times, my fish wasn't done all the way, so now I just get shrimp and chicken wings. Wish they had call in orders because sometimes I just want sides and don't want to wait in that LONG LINE.

First time visit was this past Friday. The wait was a bit long because they were changing to evening shift. The food was well worth the wait. It’s as good as it looks. The pictures are accurate. They are pleasant and friendly. Everyone in line patiently waited while enjoying the music and smelling fresh fried fish.

We ordered a salmon cake sandwich, and the family fish meal. Always a line when we drive by, but it was worth the wait. Sorry they'd run out of potato salad. Great overall!!

Visiting family in Richmond, Sugar’s was top on our list. We ordered fried soft shell crab, soft shell crab sandwich, oysters, catfish sandwich, catfish salad and cornbread. Everything was delicious. The wait on a 90 evening was appropriately long, with good music and other customers with whom to share what we ordered and kvetch about the heat. Took home to enjoy with Richmond beer. We’ll be back!

Got two dinners. First time customer. Food was delicious, seasoned well, hot and plentiful. Each dinner came with a 4pc fried fish, 4 big fried Oysters, 4 big fried shrimp, fries and toast. Cole slaw was included but We didn't eat it. Tarter sauce, was very good. Had about a 45min wait for the food to get done and we waited about 8min in line to order. Overall it was worth it. I would definitely eat from here again and recommend it.
