We were there for Peking Duck after hearing they specialized with this dish. Luckily, I had made a reservation and so glad I did because the place was packed with local families. We were the only non Chinese in the place and we were pleased because it meant the food would be authentic. It was! The cold spinach appetizer (it came first) was delicious! The rest of the food took a while to come but we forgave them since it was so busy. The Peking Duck was good and they included lots of blinis; the chicken with numbing pepper was an acquired taste; hot and sour soup was meh; but beef and fried rice very flavourful; and the pork pies were mwah! I recommend going with someone who speaks either Cantonese or Mandarin because our wait staff ignored us for most of the evening. It 's also noisy but all part of the experience. Would we make the trek from downtown to Richmond Hill again No!
I waited 60 minutes for food. The peking duck decreased a lot. It is kind of like cheat. My wife got severe food poisoning for 3 days. Do not come back.
After reading the Google reviews I decided to give Dayali a try and boy am I glad that I did. I really don’t understand where the bad reviews are coming from; maybe that just got to show how good Toronto folks have it wrt Chinese food in general. This place, at it’s price point, blows any duck places anywhere in the United States out of the water. It’s amazing. It’s proper. It’s authentic. It’s home. I wept when I bit into my Peking duck wrapped in the delicate crepe. It’s as good as any Peking duck you can get in Beijing. That’s how good it is if you know what I’m saying.
