We ordered the lobster and crab dinner for six, along with four additional dishes: half a double-boiled chicken, sweet and sour pork, garlic-fried Chinese broccoli, and steamed green bass. The flavors in each dish were spot on. Everything was served hot and packed with flavor. The steamed fish was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were tender, and the chicken was moist and delicious. The tables were well-spaced, and the restaurant had been nicely renovated. The service was attentive and friendly, and the desserts were outstanding. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend visiting Omei!
I ordered the lobster, and it was delicious! The dessert was excellent as well. I will definitely try other dishes next time.
Typically, the lobster is around 7 lbs, but they didn't have one of that size available, so they offered us an 8 lb lobster with a $40 surcharge. The lobster was prepared in four different ways: steamed, with garlic and ginger, deep-fried with salt and pepper, and in a lobster roe fried rice. The chefs were very considerate in how they prepared the lobster, ensuring that it was easy to access the meat. Every piece was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. The deep-fried lobster had a light, crispy batter that wasn't greasy at all. The oysters were also deep-fried and coated with salted duck yolk, which I found quite delicious. They added some deep-fried vermicelli for an extra crunch. The beef dish, however, was a bit salty and really needed to be paired with the fried rice and pea shoot dishes to balance it out. To top off our meal, we enjoyed a dessert of purple rice with coconut soup, served with mango mochi. The mango mochi was incredibly sweet, and I only wished we had more! With all the seafood restaurants in Toronto, Omei truly stands out. They excel at showcasing the food without focusing too much on theatrics. The staff was friendly and attentive, and both cash and card payments are accepted. If you’re a seafood enthusiast, this is a place you won’t want to miss!
The crabs were fresh and every dish was delicious. The owner was charming and friendly, and the service was excellent.
We opted for the geoduck sashimi special, with half of it deep-fried. Additionally, we ordered a dinner set that included a large Dungeness crab prepared in two different ways, along with soup, sautéed snow pea leaves and mushrooms, garlic pepper fried pork chops, and an assortment of Chinese desserts. Every dish was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared with great attention to detail. The service was prompt and attentive, and our conversations with the owner made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely return the next time we're in town!
