Cattleman's Rest Motor Inn - Richmond

The room was very spacious and clean with all amenities available. You do have to watch the hot water but other than that-a very pleasant experience. Breakfast was a little slow arriving as we had deadlines to adhere too but very nice-especially the mushrooms-to die for. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful throughout the complex and restaurant. Very welcoming.

When you pay a high price for a restaurant meal, you expect great food and service.... The service was pretty good considering that too few staff were dealing with a number of patrons. The food on the other hand was not up to scratch. Fish was ok, but the accompanying chips were soggy. I also had a dozen oysters which had not been properly prepared. There was shell grit in most of them, and I can tell you that is a bitter pill to swallow when you pay top dollar !! When I prepare oysters for my guests, I very carefully rinse each one to make sure that there is no shell left to spoil the experience. My tip for this restaurant.... take a look at other places in town first because you are unlikely to be getting a great value for money deal here.

Good selection of steaks and cooked and presented well. It's always a good place to eat, especially as often there are not many places open at night.

Stayed overnight at the Inn on a business trip and so the restaurant was the easy dinner option.I'll be honest, my expectations weren't high and the decor is somewhat dated but the food was fantastic.I had the barramundi spring rolls for entree and lamb shank for main and both were excellent, would highly recommend. My colleague had the calamari and steak, both were also really delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and would dine again, although the food wasn't cheap- can't have everything I guess!
