Lakeview indian restaurant

I wanted to like this place; I really did. There are so few decent Indian restaurants around that I'm desperate for a good one but I have to say that despite a hint of competence the Lakeview was a let down. The chicken tikka was good (but that's not hard to achieve) and the two main courses were bold efforts to be fresh and original but fell down over minor basic errors. My beef kashmiri was tasty but the addition of sultanas was so over the top that halfway through I couldn't eat any more it was so unbearably sweet. And the number of cardamon pods in the meal was ridiculous. My wife's mushroom and pea madala was tasty so that was a plus because as a vegan she usually loses out. The Makhani dhal was a huge disappointment: tasteless, watery, runny, and tomatoey. The final straw were the Naan which weren't Naan. Instead we got soggy paratha with no stuffing to speak of and smothered in organo- oregano? How hard is it to do decent Naan bread. I'm somebody who hates to waste food and will eat whatever is put in front of me. Sadly, not in this case. The majority of it went in the bin.

Very tasty dishes and quite a good menu. Some good choices of goat and duck as well. Beef rogan josh with mushrooms was extremely tasty. You can tell that it's all 'home made' and fresh with good ingredients. Good service and owners aim to please. However, take-away was almost $50 for a couple and toddler which is quite expensive. I might add we all had 'upset stomachs' within 12hrs which may or may not be attributed to our meal.

Food is fresh and delicious not heavy. Lovely people run the place. Well worth a visit if you like Indian food. They do take away too but their food is at its best when you dine in. Great Bollywood to watch on screen too :)

Great service, delicious food, great prices.Everything about our dining experience was great. The staff were warm and welcoming, even towards our 3 year old son and baby daughter. The food was fresh and full of flavour.Don't let the facade put you off, it's all about the food and service.We would highly recommend.

Quality food and a good menu. Very reasonably priced with real starched white tablecloths. Strongly recommend
