Rubaiyat - Rio de Janeiro

Absolutely excellent, top to bottom. It’s been a while since I have had such an exquisite experience even in the USA. We made reservations the day before, and we got a royal treatment even though there were about 5 tables of more than 10 people already sat in the restaurant. The hostess gave us choices of seating (we decided outside since it has a nice view of the Redeemer statue). We didn’t tell them it was a birthday celebration until after dinner and they still brought out a dessert with candle! Every aspect of the restaurant was clean, professional and knowledgeable while being friendly to a foreigner who spoke moderate Portuguese. 4 people, full meals, two wines all less than 1200 BRL!! Oh, and the food was delicious and cooked perfectly.

On the higher end side, this restaurant is a gem in Rio. Known by the stakes, your order comes with a little sign with a cow showing how the beef is cooked love that! The location is simply unbelievable, we asked to sit outside and we saw the horse races on one side and Christ the Redeemer on the other. A great place to bring big groups and have a beautiful scene.

Beautiful location on the horse trail. Risotto mushroom was great. Drink well.

Great views of the race course. The traditional Brazilian buffet lunch had a good choice, and a huge pudding selection.

Excellent meal, although the waiter did get the desert wrong due to language barrier. But at the end it was sorted out
