I’ve been here for the first time and the location is indeed as described in the guides. A bit old, typical London style. I’ve met a local Brit guy who makes me give 5 stars. I’ve got a good time and hope to come back. The owner is a very nice guy who gave us good tips for the New Year’s Eve.
This is one of those places that makes you feel as if you've stepped back in time to a gay venue of the late 80s or early 90s. But depending on what you like, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's very much in the mould of a dive bar, with it's down at heel decor, and the toilets, whilst OK, could do with a bit of modernising and a lick of paint. However, that all goes to create a very easy going, unpretentious vibe. It's not like some of the places in Soho which can make you feel a bit self conscious, as the emphasis is on having fun than trying to be cool. My favourite night is the monthly club night (first Saturday of every month) which is a men only clothing optional evening. Might sound a bit weird, but the atmosphere is very relaxed and, as the booze flows, there is a sense that anything goes. And it does! So if you enjoy getting naked, or staying dressed whilst hanging out with naked men, then this is the night for you. I always find the guys here quite friendly and easy to chat to so if you're considering going on your own and quite a few of the guys there appeared to have done that then you'll more than likely find some company if you want to. My one suggestion for management is to turn the lights down just a little as the night wears on, to give the bar an even more cozy vibe, and to get people in the mood, but that's a minor quibble, really. Overall, it's a great little bar in London's ever diminishing gay scene and one that's definitely worth a visit
A cosy basement bar with character. Went on a Tuesday night for underwear night. Cheap entry, cheap drinks and free membership. Was worth the journey, lots of middle-aged men, a few oldies, some charming hunks, plenty of action. The guy on the door was cute, as was the guy looking after peoples bags, and Ted is a darling..
How can you write everyone is welcome , when you don 't even have a way in for a whole big part of society! Maybe just delete that, since wheelchair users can 't come!
