Colombian pizza doesn't like. Your ding, but this is one of the best games. excellent prices on fine liquors also that are difficult to find in Colombian restaurants, tangueray, absolute w fresh orange juice. Chilean weeping. I like to use the napolitana pizza as basic, which is covered with fine cut tomato and beautiful spices and mozarella cheese, then choose the ingrediants you want to add. this gives them the tomato base that many Colombian pizzas are missing. it is just half a block from the main square of san antonio de pereira, but not too easy to find. when they are facing the square with the back to the church, they go directly to the corner and take another right. they will enjoy the peaceful charm from the typical loud facilities of the pueblo.
My wife and I have lived in the pueblo for over 2 years and never tried the pizza in el porton. last night was our first, and I am happy to say that el porton was a pleasant surprise. el porton is a bohemian style hanging...out that specializes in pizza, lasagne, coffee, juice and liquor. it remembers the early 60s coffee houses, but with a much more lively clientele. less than one block from the city square, san antonio park, this caffe and pizzeria is convenient for both denizen and tourist alike. el porton does not open until later on the day so that it is mainly on an evening quantity. the equipments are rough and rustic. and almost every table has a kind of wooden board game. it is a beautiful place to hang out and there are many sitting and personal to handle a small amount. altogether el porton has a warm and friendly atmosphere. when we first entered, I discovered an open fire in the center of the escaping area. first I thought I would like to have wood-fired brick oven pizza. Unfortunately, it's only fired for warmth and atmosphere. Nevertheless, the electro-ove pizza was delicious and crisp above average relatiw to typical Colombian pizza. we ordered a medium-sized mixed meat and sweet pizza, which was more than sufficient. Although we didn't take home in a Doggy bag, my wife and I felt stuffed. dinner for two, incl. drinks and drinking, put us back 36,000 pesos (or $12 us) no bad thing. and an excellent value for the money! el porton is on my list the favorite restaurants in san antonio.
The pizza is decent, not great, in an opposite of many pizza restaurants. but what is great is the atmosphere. it is an art funky 70's coffee house art of feeling, Colombian style. you can play board games, drink wine, watch fire and laugh with friends while waiting for the pizza. it is unique, friendly and very local.
