For those of you who have never heard of the beast, it's dipped in an egg batter and fried to a crispy golden perfection. So steamy and moist inside, and so crunchy but without a starchy crust) on the outside. You can get it as part of the 2 item combo plate for $5.99 tax). p.s. Cash only.
Not impressed. I typically enjoy Chinese mall food but the fried rice wasn 't too good and bourbon chicken was way too salty. Wouldn 't come here again.
Food was uncooked and cold! I wouldn't be surprised if I got salmonella from their broccoli! The man working the stand was rude and EXTREMELY unprofessional he stole 20 dollars off the floor and kept it for himself instead of looking for the correct owner, the food is pricey and disgusting and the customer service is terrible!
For our dinner party of ten, including the first mate from one of the boats we chartered, we brought in a whopping 19 pounds of fish. The staff initially warned us that it was far too much fish, but we ended up having it all cooked and managed to devour about 80% of it. We also ordered a variety of vegetable dishes, along with white rice and fried rice. We chose the following cooking styles and sauces: General Tso's, Curry, Mango, Ginger, Scallion, and Garlic. We had both Striped Bass and Bluefish, so we tried each fish prepared in every style. The most popular among our group was the Striped Bass in General Tso's sauce, which received lots of praise (though I wasn't a fan). Personally, I preferred the Bluefish. I found the General Tso's preparations to be overly sweet and too Americanized for my liking in a Chinese restaurant. However, the Curry Striped Bass was fantastic—it reminded me of Japanese curry sauce. The Garlic Bluefish was also quite tasty, though I still thought it was a bit too sweet. The Ginger Scallion Bluefish was bland, and the Mango sauce was simply terrible. The fish itself was fresh and delicious, which was a bonus, but the Mango sauce really brought down the overall experience. As for the fried rice, it was just average, and the broccoli dish we ordered was nothing special. The service was unremarkable; while the staff wasn't rude, they weren't particularly friendly either. It's worth noting that this restaurant serves both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, including sushi. I struggle to see the connection between the two; there may be some overlap between Chinese and Korean cuisines, and between Korean and Japanese, but I've never found a connection between Chinese and Japanese food. Most of the time, when they’re offered together, the results are disappointing—except for certain Todai buffet locations, but that's a different scenario altogether. In any case, Wok and Roll is another popular spot in Montauk. While the food was decent, I wasn’t overly impressed. If you’re looking for a place to have the fish you caught cooked for you, this restaurant is an acceptable option, but what they prepared from our catch was just okay—nothing more, nothing less. Except for that Mango sauce. That was genuinely off-putting. I can't comment on the rest of their menu since I only tried a couple of dishes, but given the restaurant's popularity, it’s possible that they serve better options.
Steer clear of this restaurant! I chose to eat here because Google said the nearby Nathan's was permanently closed (only to find out it wasn't true right after I sat down with my meal from Wok and Roll). The food was underwhelming—the rice tasted like the frozen PF Chang’s version you can find at Walmart, and it was way overpriced. Whatever you do, avoid the General Tso's chicken; it had a weird smell reminiscent of urine that really made me feel sick. I recommend going to Nathan's instead or just skipping lunch altogether!
