The food was excellent but was not told that after we left they would add a gratuity to our bank card...especially after we left more than 15% cash to the waitress. Sorry, but we will not return...it's a shame too. (Customer should be informed of your automatic gratuity...this is Rochelle and old servers leave cash) Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
Inside, we saw a sign reading "Salt 7," but our bill showed "C.C.S. Golf LLC," and the menu was titled "Salt 251." Quite confusing, right? We kicked things off by ordering the Lobster Dip Appetizer, but the photo only shows half of it. My wife remarked that she couldn’t find any lobster in it, and I had to agree. While it was tasty, wouldn’t you expect to find some lobster in a dish called Lobster Dip? After a considerable wait, the waitress, who was also the bartender and seemingly handling the whole restaurant on her own while the two owners were elsewhere, finally came to take our drink and entrée orders. I ordered a Manhattan, and my wife opted for a Gin Martini; the multitasking waitress admitted she had to look up the latter. Both drinks were just okay; I’ve definitely had better Manhattans. For our entrees, my wife chose the Grilled Shrimp Scampi and I went for the 8-ounce Garlic Sirloin. It took about 20 minutes for the dishes to arrive. They did come with a nice, fresh salad, but the dressing was served in a tiny plastic cup, which simply wasn’t enough for the size of the salad. I found myself scraping out every last bit. Now onto the entrees: the Shrimp Scampi is typically a straightforward dish of grilled shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic, and white wine, but this version missed the mark. The shrimp were seasoned but didn’t have the classic Scampi flavor. To make matters worse, the fresh vegetables were drenched in a sweet teriyaki sauce, which clashed completely with the seasoning of the shrimp. My wife also pointed out that her baked potato had a bad spot—a chunk was missing. We’ve never encountered that in a baked potato before; not a great first impression. As for my steak, I ordered the 8-ounce garlic sirloin medium rare, expecting a warm red center. I could see the garlic, but unfortunately, the steak was well done—gray, hot, and tough. I had to slather it with steak sauce just to make it palatable. At one point, two people who we assumed were the owners came by to ask if everything was okay. Naturally, we did what most people do and said, "everything's fine." They obviously didn’t take note of the struggles the waitress was facing; she could’ve used some help managing both the bar and the dining area. Nevertheless, she remained upbeat and did her best. For dessert, I ordered the Tuxedo Bomb, which turned out to be surprisingly good. It consisted of a slice of chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse and vanilla mousse, topped with a chocolate coating and drizzled with vanilla icing, accompanied by whipped cream. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. Of course, I neglected to take a picture, much to my annoyance.
