Boxcar Donuts - Rochester

Every 18 to 24 months, I make a return visit to Boxcar Donuts, usually prompted by their Instagram posts. This time, I spent $20 on a half dozen donuts, but only four of them lived up to their promised flavors. The pear ginger butter donut was too tight and oily, lacking any hint of ginger. The rum ray donut had lovely rum flavors, but was otherwise a regular cake donut. The apple fig donut was actually quite delicious, with fresh apple pieces and a strong fig taste. The eggnog cake donut was also tasty, with a subtle eggnog flavor. However, the last two donuts were so forgettable that I can't even remember what they were. Overall, Boxcar Donuts' offerings are not bad, but they are never outstanding and are overpriced for the quality. For a better selection of flavors, I recommend East Ridge Donuts, or for classic cake donuts, Schutt's Cider Mill cannot be beaten.

We were disappointed by the limited selection of donuts for breakfast at this restaurant. We ordered two fried cakes with sugar and two drinks, and the total cost was not worth it.

This restaurant in Rochester has the best donuts I have ever had. I appreciate that they post their weekly donut menu on social media, complete with names and pictures. Their selection is always rotating and unique, making it a beloved tradition for me and my daughter.

Love the donuts, but they can not make customers wait 20 minutes to get two donuts out of the case. just crazy about something else to get and go.

This place was amazing!!! We had these donuts at a friends wedding so we decided to come and check out the actual location. These donuts were absolutely amazing!!! I also had a latte which was also very good. Highly recommend. My daughter came along and she had a lot of fun trying to find all the dinosaurs that are hidden around the shop. We will definitely be coming back again! There is free parking across the street. And there is some indoor seating and also a few tables and chairs outside as well.
