Amazingly friendly staff, and somehow, even better food. The curry chicken sandwich is so good, it ought to be a crime. Stupendously juicy and flavor for days, it's a grand slam. The cocktails they make are works of gorram art. The Smokey Ryder is made with actual cedar smoke in the glass, and the gin blossom is unbelievable. They're both beyond fantastic.
Octane RKFD is at a great location near the river in the Main Street District of downtown Rockford. Free street parking and a parking lot across the street. Located in a chic-industrial building with a large and stylish bar inside. The menu is Asian inspired including some unique fusion style boa buns, lumpia rolls, mazemen (broth-less Ramen) and traditional Ramen on Thursdays. Their cocktails are also delicious and we want to go back to try the rest! Wine list and beer list as well. Looking forward to coming back.
Food is great, and so is the service. Sometimes I wish the menu didn’t change, I have a habit of falling in love with an item and the next time I come back it’s no longer on the menu.
Here, let me hand you this dirty rumpled paper menu and then I am going to serve you the drink you didn’t order 20 minutes after you sat down with my finger in it from across the table so you have to reach for it. Oh, and I am probably sweating on your drinks because it is absurdly hot in here. Here is also a hard water stained glass for your beer. Yes, I know you had to ask for it after I brought you a lukewarm can. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Spicy pork bowl was greasy, rice mushy, disgusting food. The service horrible. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing. Appetizer never came. Drinks came after dinner. What a disaster. $53 for food we didn’t eat and the world’s dumbest laziest server. Lame response received: Seriously… that is your excuse?! Then you should post a sign: “Though our prices remain high, the food and service will probably be terrible because we are short staffed. You may want to consider another establishment… maybe even McDonalds.” Tell you what, give me my money and my time back. We made a 90 mile round trip on on a Saturday evening on a friend’s recommendation to have you mess it up. If you cannot deliver the experience on which you base your reputation and for which you are charging, then you need to close the door until you get it sorted out. Otherwise, you are robbing your customers of their time and stealing their money.
