HELLO EVERYONE! I live in London and when I come down to visit family in Guelph, I always make sure to stop by Dj's dinner. I love the chicken wrap and a classic poutine. If you haven't been here in a while, it is a must see. New owners have done wonders with the restaurant and menu. Don't listen to the previous slanderous comment! Obviously that person has no life and goes around critiquing restaurants like he's some kind of professional food critic. SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILY RUN BUSINESSES THEY NEED ALL OUR HELP!!!Bruce
This isn't a new place -- it's the same dive that's been here for years. Despite having recently closed for renovations, it's exactly the same dive, just with a fresh coat of paint -- my last visit was in June, and it's the same place it was then. Tables outside are transplanted from a restaurant patio somewhere else, or perhaps from inside another restaurant, and are wholly unappealing. Tables inside are configured to favour large groups and feel grotty.Restaurant supplies and coolers in plain sight. Washroom doors propped wide open to dining tables. Dingy menus -- hard to come by, as there's one per two seats at a table -- feature labels over pages to cover up, re-price and rename items. Everything -- from the 1 ply napkins to the off-brand jam packets is cheap at DJ's.No water brought to tables. Ask for a pop, you get pointed to the cooler. No glass or ice, but they will bring you a straw (unwrapped and carried in your server's hands.) Coffee refills are plentiful, at least. Though you're out of luck if you want creamers with those refills.Portions are not so gargantuan as an earlier review suggested (that was the "Big Breakfast" described -- of course it's big.) My slices of ham were paper thin, my eggs undercooked, my toast slathered in unmelted margerine. Homefries are the pre-spiced cubes of potato-like substance deep-fried to a golden greasy crisp that you can -- and do -- get anywhere. My colleague's bacon was stale, greasy, and oddly unflexible. Avoid. There are other all-day breakfast and diner options in Rockwood. This one is just a hole in the wall and ought to be cleared out, scoured, and restructured.
D.J.'s is a new diner and a great addition to the town. The food is excellent, great choice menu, very good value and best of all excellent service with nice friendly staff. I've been there a number of times and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend it.
I'm down visiting from nb and I had breakfast with my best friend at DJs. Better bang for your buck! My breakfast cost 6.50 and it was such a large serving. I had 2 pieces of toast, 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham
