Driftwood - Rogers City

I arrived at the restaurant without a reservation and was surprised to learn that one was needed. The owner mentioned there may be another available room, so I waited for him to return to check. After a 10-minute wait, he confirmed there was another room, although the receptionist warned it might be a bit cold as the heat was off. Not a big deal, as the surrounding rooms were warm. The key to the room didn't work, and even the receptionist couldn't get it to function. She was kind enough to send me a text offering to leave the key until 7 pm, after which I could contact the owner. Unfortunately, when I messaged at 8:49 pm to ask about dinner options, I received no response by 9:52 pm. This lack of reliability gives me second thoughts about staying here again in the future.

I miss the nautical thema wall paper she used to....it gave the space character. over decades, there were some paintings here. never used the pool, always wished it a sauna. definitiw a plus on the water. the person who checked me at my last visit was very nice, not sure how she was. I felt a little shy around her like coming here during the pandemic and the last few years, I think I checked in the far away to get a space key through the keybox. the home economy has always made a good job. the rooms are clean, a big plus! the rooms are pretty quiet. they could hear a little bit of others, but never of traffic. the rooms have a microwave and a refrigerator. I'd rather stay here than in alpena, even if I'm visiting relatives in alpena. one of my favorite places to stay in ne michigan.

Very clean with great staff. Rooms could use some updates especially the beds. Beautiful Lake Huron views! Love that they are dog friendly!!

Clean rooms, in a very nice area. The person running the place was super nice and gave us tips as to what was in the area. All rooms are within 200 feet of the lakeshore, making easy access to the water.

The motel is older, but the rooms are clean and the furniture is updated. Our room had a small balcony overlooking Lake Huron. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were flat and hard. I would suggest bringing your own if possible. Breakfast is included in the price, but it was a disappointment. The breakfast room is small with only 8 chairs at 2 small tables. There is little space between the breakfast bar and the chairs, making it uncomfortable for guests. When we arrived for breakfast, all the tables were full. A customer warned us to be careful with the milk as some cartons were expired. We decided to skip the motel breakfast and went to McDonald's instead. It was a good decision and I would recommend doing the same.
