The fried chicken, green beans, corn, Cole Slav, potatoes, bread and above all the bean soup... not sure if I covered everything. The place is really nicely decorated. The only disappointment was that we couldn't take the chicken home that we didn't eat. This seems crazy because we've already paid for it and they have to throw it out (by food standards). Go with an appetite because there is enough to fill you.
We have made reservations as we had a group of 20. We sat right away. Our server was excellent. The food is served family style. I think my favorite was the bean soup, but then everything was fresh, hot and so good again. Do not forget to save space for Dessert. If you are too filled, make it go. It's worth the ride.
I've been coming here for years and finally to this icon of restaurants in Arkansas. This is a small town diner with a very unique menu and offer. The place is very well kept, clean and very well occupied. Most tables are quite large to serve family style. Everyone gets the same food and it's all you can eat. We couldn't eat half of what they brought us. They start with a bean soup followed by fried chicken, potatoes, green beans, Cole Slav, corn and a bread and apple butter. The fried chicken was as good as I ever had! I thought all sides were okay. We had the peach cop who was as good as I ever had. Service was great and at a fair price.
We stopped off the lake yesterday. The hostess told us, although we had no such nice reservation. I never had such a family-style dining experience and I? I would tell you that it wasn't disappointed! The food was nostalgic, homemade and delicious! Price was also super affordable. Very happy this place made it through the pandemic and was as busy as it was last night!
This place is definitely a five star establishment from an experience perspective, the food and the price of the food is probably four stars. The desserts we had were kind of rough. We didn?t know this going in, but there is no menu at the restaurant. They have one option and that is a fried chicken dinner with all of the fixin?s. Sodas and desserts are extra, but all of the dinner meal is all you can eat. The food tasted like home cooked food. Nothing really special about it other than it was all you could eat and the chicken tasted pretty fresh. I had to add salt to pretty much everything, partly because I?m relatively unhealthy that way, and partly because I think they keep the sodium low for their average customer which is above 50 years old. Again, not a bad experience, the food was fine and the experience was pretty neat, I wish I wouldn?t have ordered dessert. First of all I was already too full from the all you can eat chicken and secondly the desserts were pretty rough. The blackberry cobbler I had didn?t have a ton of flavor and needed a lot more sugar and my wife?s chocolate cheesecake wasn?t very smooth (odd texture) but it tasted ok. I would definitely try this place once and I think we?ll be back to take that rest of the family here for the experience, but it didn?t quite live up to the hype.
