The menu offers a wide range of delicious treats and fresh fish to choose from with variable prices: affordable but sometimes also quite expensive. The staff, but especially the friendly owner of the place makes it a lovely experience.
Great classy restaurant on the beach with wonderful view of the mountain all light up at night and the sea that you can hear and smell in the air, fresh delicious fish&seafood, attentive stuff. One of the best choices staying in Canyelles Petites, came back there twice. Attention! If you want to get the table in the first line in front of the sea (or any table at all), better make a reservation in advance (one day before or at least in the morning of the same day). I would recommend this place to everyone (families: the children can have fun on the beach while you are sipping wine and enjoying the food; couples: classy and romantic; friends etc. The prices are a bit above average but worth it !
Very good seafood on a wonderful beach. The muscles were fabulous and the main course fish quite lovely. Friendly service and very clean restaurant for a sandy beach location. Not cheap but very special.
If you stay around Canyelles or Almadrava or Roses Ampuria then the choice is easy. Excellent wild fish, perfectly cooked, very good service and such an atmosphere!!! And so much more, tallines, chipirones, pimientos de padron, pan con tomate....and some home made desserts too (Spain is not famous for having good desserts but maybe at La GuaGua we are not in Spain yet) Joan is a very subtle and soft manager who motivates perfectly his team. In the last few years Joan has been upgrading La GuaGua for the pleasure of his faithful guests. One piece of advice: book early as otherwise you will have to shift some commitments to enjoy La GuaGua.
I have been going to this restaurant for 22 years now: It is like a family lovely staff and excellent management. Every year I meet people that I have seen year after year after year from Holland/France/Catalonia/England/Germany it is like a special family between April (Easter and the end of September every year: When La Gua closes the last Sunday of September every year it is like losing a friend only to look forward to the opening the following year: Paul (Paulo
