SaltPepperNutmeg - ROSEVILLE CHASE

We had a fantastic birthday celebration at SaltPepperNutmeg with 16 friends.

Salt Pepper Nutmeg is a great cafe/restaurant right next door to the Roseville Cinema.

First off, the feel of this place is so warm and cosy (quite literally . Everything is so well decorated, with lots of plants, produce and books! This is probably the first time I 've laughed while reading a menu. Everything has a funny little description with lots of music references, and the dish names are very creative! I mean, who wouldn 't want to order a 'Flocking Good Bowl ' Then of course we have the food itself: We started with the garlic bread and leaf salad. The bread was nice and toasty with a healthy amount of oil, garlic and toppings. It was great by itself, or to compliment a meal. The salad was a lovely way to start the evening. Lots of greens, a nice bit of apple, all with a generous topping of sauce and salt that just worked so nicely with everything. I got myself 'The Long And Winding Road ', or gnocchi with beef cheek. Absolutely everything on the plate was so tender and soft that I barely touched the knife! The beef was just to die for, the gnocchi was cooked to perfection, and the sauce was the perfect thing to bring it all together. Finally, for dessert, I had the chocolate fondant cake with Chantilly cream. Each bite was like a chocolate explosion (hence the name! At first I thought the cream was ice cream, but I was quickly surprised and impressed at how they got it to such a consistency! Overall, Salt Pepper Nutmeg is a fantastic experience with amazingly delicious food. Of course, said experience definitely comes at a price, but a price I 'd be willing to pay again. Looking forward to coming back one day!

OMG! Those beef cheeks were an out of body experience.... Our hosts were outstanding! A Great Birthday Celebration!

Excellent food. Can't fault it at all. Good European-style, no-nonsense service. Never had to keep asking for more water as it was brought out regularly. A bit pricey, but worth it for the surroundings, flowers, vibe, quirky knick-knacks...and most definitely the food!!!
