They seemed nice enough people - maybe people don't get the fiery body language that is quite normal where they are from. Our sorbet was really nice in any case. We'll go back tomorrow for sure.
Very rude, very uncomfortable and very unfriendly! I would give 0 stars if it was an option. She cussed at our family in German when we left and wouldn't purchase anything because of her rude behavior.
I was totally shocked after our experience at this establishment!! When I wrote about our encounter ready to upload in TA, I read the other negative accounts and totally related to the others, you can't make this stuff up. After our walk to Plonlein I decided to stop at Mauro's ice cafe with my 11yr old daughter. We ordered 2 ice cream cups and sat on the outdoor table. We were carrying an empty wrapper for schneeballen snowball which we had just finished and left on the table while starting our ice cream. The owner saw it and in a very belligerent voice said that if we were eating outside food we can't sit here. I showed him the empty bag and told him it was finished before we arrived and will throw it away after we enjoyed our ice cream. Surprisingly, he was obscenely rude and yelled at us that we cannot bring outside food, even though the bag was empty and we had not found a bin to throw it away. The wife was also yelling insults at us in Italian. I replied that this is no way to treat customers, and that I will leave a bad review online. When I took out my camera to take a picture of the front sign, she menacingly smiled in front my camera, which I thought was a sign that she just wanted peace. Unexpectedly, she grabbed my camera! I kept a tight grip on my camera, so she grabbed my fanny pack and cap and shoved me away from the seat and told us never to come back. She had this possessed look on her face that she seemed to be out of control when she violently threw me backward and made me knocked down a chair! I was also astounded that she went face to face with my daughter in a threatening manner. She even talked and motioned to a passing dog on a leash to come attack me!! She was viciously abusive and even scratched my arm, (see **** picture) and broke my sunglasses which was in my fanny pack! We then talked to the police to report this unnerving incident. This had never happened to me before during any of my travels to over forty countries and I have never witnessed such savage behavior, especially in front of a child. Never ever come to this place!
Place is a nightmare! Im an american with not a lot of experience in Germany. While i was waiting i ask my mom who was visiting me if she wanted a coffee. I asked for 3 capuccinos and when we decided to sit on the patio the lady screamed at me that i cannot sit if i asked the coffee to go. But in such a rude way. I was embarrassed to be screamed at in public that i decided not to buy it. She screamed at me the f word and mention my mother. By mistake i left my purse in her place. When i asked her for my purse she said that i have to pay for the 3 coffees i asked for eventhou the coffee was not made. I said no and she refused to give it back. She threatened me and wanted to throw things at me. She grabbed a metal thing and food to throw at me. Her husband acted the same way like he wanted to hit me. She said call the polizei but never did and still refused to give me my purse. Avoid this place at all cost!!!! I took a picture of the coffee shop to remember the name and leave a bad review and my experience with them. The lady ran towards me to hit me again! I stood there and told her you better not put a finger on me! Thank god she didnt grab anything from my purse. her husband said show respect but she was the one calling me names! I was so desperate to get my purse! I felt bad for my mom she was horrified. I ended up paying the coffee and they made me wait while they prepare it. So i paid and got my purse back!
First off my wife and I stayed in Rothenburg for 4 nights. The first experience my wife was screamed at for asking for an ice cream sample before purchase. This was consistent with the other cafes in town not offering samples, but the man was so angry he yelled at her over a simple request. Now after a lapse in judgement we saw the next day was operated by the mans wife. And we wanted a quick coffee so we went for it. Big Mistake! She was much worse angrily telling us there were no lids or condiments for the coffee and refusing to let us sit on the empty patio because we didn't spend enough money to use the facility! I mean you absolutely cannot make this stuff up it was jaw dropping terrible and the cafe needs to be given the boot outta Rothenburg!
