I took very clearly one slice of cake out of one of the trays, went to pay for it and the lady who I think has been mentioned before (long, grey very curly hair in a ponytail) blatantly tried to gaslight me by saying I had picked up two pieces of cake and would be paying for two. I asked her where she could see two pieces and she said she could see a 'cut line ', incredibly between the top and bottom part of an iced cake!! I couldn 't believe it and in hindsight should have stood my ground and asked her to cut it down her imaginary 'cut line ', but I had a large queue bearing down on me and she knew that she had put me under pressure. I have 20/20 vision and a relative youngster for Bexhill, so know that I was clearly being lied to and swindled it was absolutely one slice of cake! M&S narcissism should never be tolerated in the workplace, especially in customer facing roles.
