We had the couscous with different kinds of meat (slightly burnt). The portions were huge!! We were hungry and it was delicious, but still we weren't able to finish it. I would recommend this place. Be sure to ask if there are tables free when it is busy, as there are more tables upstairs!
We love couscous mouton and have a high standard. Really enjoyed our meal - plenty of delicious vegetables in good juice. Two nice pieces of very tender lamb each. Plus tons of couscous. Chickpeas for garnish. The owner and his son were friendly and service was good. We are in Rouen for five nights and will definitely return for another meal here.
We came by chance upon Le Berbere on a cold evening having just arrived in Rouen. A small restaurant and very homely, we loved the tasty and aromatic tajines and couscous. Portions were generous and the price was very reasonable. Recommended.
It was a rainy day in Rouen, we were somewhat lost and hungry. We came across this little restaurant and entered and were immediately welcomed like family. And this was before shedding our rain gear. The food was marvelous, with enough couscous to feed us for a week. The unique spices made everything terrific. Tables were close together, but that just added to the family experience. If you are in this area, plan for a little down time here. Take the time to embrace the atmosphere and your trip will be totally enhanced.
I visited this restaurant a few times in the past - couscous was excellent, owner/waiter was usually reasonably affable, although never talkative. This time, we were entitled to an obviuously warmed-up couscous, served with super-dry meat, probably left-over by clients of the day before. Add to this, that the owner suddenly - and without an identified reason - turned very loud when we settled the bill, and you have all the ingredients of a wasted lunch. Notice that the account credited with the amount paid appeared on the bank account under "Le Bracelet d'Argent" (= the silver bracelet) - rather strange.
