Went to this place on a saturday night after having read the positive trip advisor ratings. The place is well frequented - preferably book a table. We arrived without booking and only received a table due to a last minute cancellation. The restaurant is located near the market place within a 10 minutes walk from the main tourist attractions.Service experienced was good, the waiter took time to run us through the menu. It contains a good selection of meats, fish and a varied selection of starters. The amuse bouche and the snacks arrived quickly together with the drinks ordreredThe starters ordered (duo the tartar (fish) and the salmon carpaccio) arrived short time later. Quantities were in line with expectations, the ingredients were fresh and well presented. In our view it lacked a bit on spice. The time between starter and main course was too long, waited around 30 minutes in between. We both had meat (veal mignon and filet de boeuf). While the veal mignon was overdone (it really was well done), we very much liked the filet de boeuf which was well cooked and very tasty. The deserts were nice and portions adecuate.Wine selection is extensive but with prices on the high end (Chateauneuf du pape 2010 @ 52 Euros). All in all a good selection if your looking for an upmarket place near the city center offering a relaxed atmosphere - recommend it.
Everything did fit, the quality of the food, fine tasting, the atmosphere, the service... We had a great dinner experience at the restaurant last night. You have the choice between several menus the first one starting at 18,70 euros. Part of the menu, you have the choice between 4 appetizers, 4 entrées, 4 desserts. You will be served an amuse-bouche at first, little délicatesse from the kitchen. I went for the Escargot with Crème de Livarot as a first meal, then a Rumsteck brochette and a Pochon Normand for dessert. Everything was very well presented and so tasty. Service was excellent and helpful too. I would say that the cuisine is typically french (sauce). The interior décor is classy, very cozy, you feel good. Better call and reserve a table. Finding a Parking spot might be a bit challenging. Overall a superb experience.
The 'le Chabada' is a family owned business with a relaxed, modern style. You will get the quality of a qualified chef, offering local products at fair prices. My personal favorite in was the 'pot au feu des escargot'. Pure taste! The restaurant is well known by the local people and also at weekdays well booked. So, don't forget to do a reservation.
I picked up this place after reading some reviews. The restaraunt is located close to the city center but not in the center and if you compare it with some other places with tables outside and more warm atmosphere, it doesn't win. Actually getting in I had the impression of being in the kind of etnic restaraunts where everything is dated, specially the carpet on the floor looks very "old" style and dirty. Anyway I ordered the food and surprise I had the best food I have ever had in Rouen. I choose the foie gras, the bras filet and the mile fleurs(sorry for the mistakes) and they were great. The menu was the 31 bucks one and with a bottle of alsatian traminer and a coffe it came out 66 euros in total. That's the price I wound't regret to pay for such a food.
