The Rocky Glen Hotel Motel Bistro

Our impression of the Rocky Glen on this occasion was that it was a lot less popular than previously. On the whole the service was good. The only issue was that the menu had the Roast Pork with apple sauce, but the kitchen staff had to search the kitchen high and low to actually find some. If it's on the menu, you don't make the lame excuse that it was "a misprint". Anyway, that was put right, and everything went without much of a problem after that. The food was standard fare. Nothing too elaborate, but not bad either.

There were only 3 customers when we arrived at the bistro around 7pm on a Thursday night. There was only one, sitting at the neighbouring bar, when we left an hour later.The service was fast. Food was cheap and nicely cooked. Serves were relatively small though, and the wine was off. On checking, they said the bottle had been opened 4-5 days previously, so readily replaced our drinks with fresh ones.I probably won't go back.

Large spacious bistro area. Good access. Directly off main road. Good food. Great place for lunch or dinner, get together with friends. Friendly staff.

We used to eat here all the time work colleagues and it really was great up until about April we gave them one last chance on Friday how silly of us to do that the staff were rude and unfriendly I ordered steak well done it was still bleeding when it arrived at our table my friend ordered chicken it was still pink the whole way through and our other 2 friends did not get what they ordered we get 1 hour for lunch not 2 the girl serving in the bar could not rustle up a smile no matter what we said ill be finding another lunch spot from now on.

Okay, so I obviously don't learn quickly, although I did have reservations about ordering a Thai Beef Salad from a pub bistro. It never usually works out well for me. This was pretty much as expected. Tough, dry strips of beef with a salad that lacks any real Thai flavour and no spice. Hubbie had a burger which you can't fail much, so he enjoyed it. The chips he had were really good! Initial service was unfriendly and unsmiling but changed on second drinks order. Average all round really. I might come back for those chips!
