I enjoyed the rustic atmosphere and the impressive collection of American and early American artifacts and collectors. I ordered the baby back ribbed plate with potato salad and baked beans. There was a generous part of some of the fleshiest ribs I have ever seen with very little fat and a great smokey taste. The meat was tender, juicy, hot and effortlessly separated from the bone. There was a large mild BBQ sauce on the table even if you want. The beans were some of the best I ever had, loaded with some smoked pork and sausage. The potato salad was also very good, but was more the consistency of potatoes potatoes - I always enjoyed them very much. This was an excellent BBQ and the price for the meal was under $11.00, so it was very reasonable in my head.
One of the few places where you can go and get a sandwich where they actually smoke the meat and bake the bread. Small eclectic place to see inside with many knick knacks. A great place to stop for a sandwich as you go to the lake.
Burl's great claim to fame could come in the cinnamon rolls at the checkout. The rolls of compact spirals of pastries and sugar and spices in a package are as large as your head.
