The chips were cold and overcooked, and the delivery was late with no apologies. This is not an isolated incident, as our last few experiences have been consistently disappointing. We recommend avoiding this establishment.
I have been a customer of this fish and chip shop for over 20 years. However, in the last 2-3 years, I have noticed a decline in the quality of their food. My most recent visit on a Saturday evening at 8:30pm was disappointing. The limited choice available made us settle for whatever they had, and even the fish took around 15 minutes to be served. We ordered a sausage meal deal and a pie meal deal, but were informed that there was no curry sauce left except for the scrapings of the container. When we arrived home, we found that all the food was cold and had to be microwaved, except for the chips which needed heating. It is truly disheartening to see the decline in quality after more than 30 years of enjoying delicious fish and chips from this shop. I would recommend finding another place for your fish and chips takeaway needs.
The restaurant's Tripadvisor listing has incorrect opening hours and lacks a closing time on the door. Upon arriving at 8:50pm, I inquired about the availability of three mini fish, but was informed that the restaurant was closing in 2 minutes and they could not prepare anything fresh. They only had two mini fish and one large fish left. I questioned if the large fish was full price, to which they confirmed. After stepping outside to call home and confirm with my family, I overheard the server speaking loudly about me to her colleague. Despite this, I returned inside and ordered two mini fish and chips and one large fish and chips for £24. I suggested that in the future, they should wait until the customer is out of earshot before speaking about them. Unfortunately, the food was of poor quality and I found it inedible. It would have been the right thing to do to turn me away and dispose of the remaining food. This overall experience was terrible and I do not plan on returning.
I live locally to this chippy, I have to walk past several times a day , when I do the smell is amazing! We usually get a home delivery, dispite being local to avoid the long queues. On a Friday or weekend they can be down the street. This is testament to how nice their food is. On top of amazing food the staff that work here are so lovely, customer service is beyond good , they really do value their customers here. Good menu with meal deals as well . There tikka kebabs are gorgeous. They also do fish bites they are so good. We always ask for loads and loads of salt and vinegar on our chips , that is always noticed. I highly recommend this chippy
With fish chips now quite an expensive family meal we all looked forward to our Saturday fish chip night. However, all of our x4 large cod’s were mostly batter and worse made up of rouge flakey fish aka no nice chunky mouthfuls!! Maybe we were unlucky and this was a just one off, but sadly we won’t be rushing back here and have been told to try Fishsmiths, Newbold on Avon.
