Captain Barney's Cafe - Ryedale

We spent a very rainy morning of our holiday here with our 21 month old, the staff are really friendly and helpful and there is a fabulous relaxed atmosphere. Our little absolutely loved the soft play and happily spent at least a couple of hours climbing, sliding and running and she would probably have stayed longer! We had a pleasant lunch of baked potatoes and warm baguettes. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area! Our only very slight suggestion would be to get some new batteries for some of the role play toys . Overall a really enjoyable experience, well done guys you really are doing a wonderful job! I wish there was something like this local to us!!

Seriously disappointing. Very shabby and grubby soft play area in serious need of upgrading and attention. Balls everywhere but no specific ball pit. Clearly not kept clean and tidy each day and we were there in the morning so it should have been at its best. It’s also very small so would be awful if there were lots of children trying to play. We didn’t bother with the cafe after experiencing the grubby play area. We will not be returning.

Group of young children with responsible adults in tow. Party was in cafe and softplay area only through choice. 2 very capable young ladies at counter dealing with hot drink orders for adults and ensuring children left soft play area for cake cutting/finishing time/supporting adults keeping to guidelines. Cake and small buffet provided from bday childs parents. Kids had a great time and lovely time for adults to mingle and share responsibility of checking on offspring playing in soft play area. Clean and tidy, Health and safety all good. Ideal for quality fun with supervision by parents. Ace venue.

Very disappointed. I attended here with my son and a friend with her son. It is good location for us as half way between our homes. We used to meet here 5 years ago with our first children and it was always great. Unfortunately the soft play is in need of some real attention, there were rips and gaffer tape in various places. On the spongey stairs there were rips which could really dangerous if a child's leg went down into it could cause serious injury. There was also at least one other child walking around eating inside the soft play dropping food everywhere. There was no supervision from their parents nor did any staff ask them not to do that. We did have lunch while we were here and although there wss a little wait it was okay and is reasonably priced. However we won't be attending here again due to the condition of the play area.

I visited today with 3 children and ordered lunch. I ordered a jacket potato and really wished I’d not bothered. It came 20mins after the childrens lunchboxes arrived and was the smallest jacket I’d ever seen. They’d given me tons of topping to compensate but it it simply shouldn’t have been served. When approaching the staff I was told it in a flippant mannner it was the largest they had and that’s why I was given extra toppings. No sorry. Needless to say I will take me business elsewhere
