Since we always share with restaurants she has an allergy we never thought anything different. The manger came out and told us the only thing they could serve her was pizza and nothing else. We left without any food after waiting for our table and ordering.
We had reservations and were there about 10 min before and even with open tables they sat some walk-in's ahead of us. The server, food and ambiance were great! Would go back for sure!
Bernini's is wonderful. I was there with a friend preceding a concert nearby. We sat outside where the patio is pretty and welcoming. I especially liked the small bouquet of yellow roses on the table. The menu was filled with yummy options, like mussels, tuna tataki, beet salad, mushroom soup, and crab cakes, and these were just the beginning. We never got to the main entrees. We chose the four appetisers and are saving the beet salad for another visit. The staff is warm and helpful, and the service was prompt. I tried one of two no alcohol light fruity concoctions and that also was a highlight. Fortunately I am in La Jolla often and Bernini's in my go to place. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Please take note that this review is for our latest dining experience only. I would usually give Bernini's 5 stars for everything, but we dined on Fathers Day and it was lacking. Servers seemed distracted and food was not up to par. The garlic bread appetiser was basically pizza dough with no topping(the topping is what makes it so spectacular . The chicken piccatta sauce was very watery on this visit(and I get this every time we visit . The squid ink pasta was light on toppings and the coffee we had with desert was watered down and we were brought one small (1 oz? creamer for 3 coffees. By the time we were able to get more creamer, the coffee was cold. We'll try again, but not on a special occasion.
My new food favorite. very helpful waitstaff, as they share tables to be sure everyone is cared for timely. Helped me with gluten free food choices, all was fresh, the soup was hot and very delicious, wine was pricey for the label, and we even went back for pricey dessert and coffee after a walk. The minus is that for a name Bernini, I expected better art, or something reflecting the artist, the country, the amazing sculpture, saw none of that. And the room is cozy so the noise is high, but outdoor patio is nice in the summer......
