The staff were lovely and really got to know the locals and visitors. Their food was amazing and priced well. I couldn't wait to go back... I have been many times at different times mainly summer and early autumn, This time was early autumn and I went a few times while I was visiting family and friends. It has new owners and has had a massive upgrade it looks very upmarket, but the atmosphere is cold and has lost its spark. The owners had attitude, even with regulars. One evening I was lucky enough to be sitting with locals at the Stampt Tisch and was shocked to see the way the waitress and the owner spoke to the elderly men at the table. Clearly when people get older they eat less, so many of the men at the table wanted smaller serves of things and asked if then could order from the children's menu or get a half serve from the main menu. Much to our disappointment we were told no and when asked why they blamed the chef and said he wasn't happy to serve a child's meal to an adult [I can understand that] or do half serves. [Yet my aunty got a half serve from the main menu when we dined a few days earlier]. So instead of thinking of it as a sale, getting cash in, they denied their requests. Needless to say none of us ended up ordering meals, just drinks. They lost at least 6 potential meals from our group and I believe they have done this before. The restaurant was almost empty that night... I returned for lunch another day and again only us and another couple. Again I found the staff cold. I ordered the schnitzel and potatoes and the food was very good. So that's a plus. I think if there was a bit more work on the friendliness of staff and they way they treat the guests it may help with the vibe of the place. Maybe it is different in the colder months? Maybe they should develop a seniors meal pricing like they do in many other places? Give it a try, the scenery and the food are great.
Familiy managed restaurant with nice view to the lake Ritzensee. During the warm season a beautiful terrace to enjoy the scenery. Friendly staff and good quality cooking in well-sized portions.
Friendly family owned restaurant serving good quality food in good-sized portions. The Rehragout tasted well, the accompanying Rotkraut was very good. The Limoncelloeisparfait was OK, but the Heidelbeereisparfait disappointed being seemingly too old.Wine list is limited. I have no comparison with other restaurants in town.
We got there really late and they had already started prepping for closure however the manager lady put on the lights again and asked us in. We had a delicious Sunday roast after Mother's Day service. She was terribly nice to us and all the staff was friendly. We felt so welcomed. The food was just delicious the ambience was a dream- right on the lake. Cakes were nice and fluffy and so fresh. All in all it was a fantastic meal! All this for just eur 70 (4 persons.)
We have been visiting Austria for a week and we set our base camp in Saalfelden for bare days. Looking to discover the authentic Austrian cuisine and based on TripAdvisor's recommendation, we decided to give this restaurant a try. Bullseye! The location is magnificent, on the lake shore with the Alps in the background. The ambiance is classy but with a warm familiar feel. This was one of the few occasions when our poor command of German worked for us :) as Robert - one of her owners and managers of the place, came to the rescue. What a privilege. Robert recommended and described every dish we had. He also took care of selecting the beers and the wines for us, masterfully matching them with the food. We started with a clear soup (unfortunately I can't remember the name.) for which the 86 years old grandma is making the knoedels every other day. We served the goulash and of course the schnitzel - both exceptionally good. The assortments of deserts, which we all shared was a treat for our palates as well. All in all, it was a wonderful evening, thanks to Robert who was a gracious host. Without him our experience at the Ritzensee Restaurant wouldn't have been complete. Concluding my review, I must mention that this is a family run business wich you can feel from the first step you set inside. I am wholeheartedly recommending this place to anyone looking for a delicious culinary encounter with the Austrian cuisine and a nice relaxing evening.
