Feedback gevenWe visited with a group of eight and were seated in a pleasant back area of the restaurant (Reservations necessary). The service was 'unconventional' yet relatively expeditious, friendly and without mistakes. This is probably the most stylish and beautiful new restaurant in Saarbrucken. The food was good, we ordered items across the menu (Filled gnocchi: Too heavy; Steak: Good, cooked as ordered; Pizza Ruccola: Excellent, the real positive surprise; and good deserts). Overall a very pleasant evening. Wifi/free WLan is still something foreign to Saarbrucken eateries or cafes (except McD and Starbucks) The waiter looked at me like I just exited a flying saucer when I ask for a password: "This is for internal use only, not for guests!" he said. Oh my!
This restaurant opposite our hotel, we were told was special; but in our opinion, it was ok. The menu was somewhat un-inspiring. Nearly all the courses were under seasoned. The steak was average; and at the prices here - I would have expected better. The worst was not the food - it was the cocktails. They made the worst cosmopolitan I have ever had; the cocktail bar obviously did not have a clue, furthermore, there was VERY little alcohol in the cocktail itself. We decided to skip the Desert given the quality of the starter and main.
We arrived at Manin fairly early, hoping to get a spot on the terrace (as you can't reserve spots outside). Sadly, we weren't the only ones to turn up that time, and it was quite packed. This resulted in very slow service, which is why it was a mixed experience.First off, the ambiente is quite nice, even though it's close to a prominent street with a lot of traffic. There is a lot of space on the terrace, though one wonders whether there should be - either they need to hire more staff, or cut down on the amount of tables outside, since the peak time we experienced resulted in very slow service. We waited more than 25 minutes for our drinks, and over an hour (!) for our food, even though nothing too difficult was ordered. The tables around us had a similar experience from what I could tell. Once the food arrived, it was good, though waiting that long kind of soured the mood a little. The staff were courteous and apologetic about the delay. So, to sum up - the food was really quite nice, the service was very slow, and the menu offers a wide variety of dishes. Vegetarian and vegan options are clearly marked, and the price was adequate for the food, if a little on the steeper side compared to general Saarbrücken prices. I would definitely return to this place, though I'll avoid peak times.
You can have a broad spectrum of different meals, excellent quality and friendly service, especially the wine portfolio is impressive
It was raining and we didn't want to eat at hotel again. So we went after our hotel front desk made recommendations. I wanted German food but this is primarily a Italian place. Nice decor. We were seated quickly but it seemed a long time from ordering to receiving food. Frustrated no menus available in English, or descriptions some place on menu in English. Our waitress spoke a little English. I also read on another trip advisor reviewer same complaint, but they mentioned you could find in English on the web site. We looked but couldn't find it. I was afraid to order pasta or fish after reading some negative reviews here on trip advisor. We ordered a pizza to share, and a Caprese salad. We had asked for the salad to come out first. It all came together. The pizza was ok. Very thin crust and flimsy in the center Had to use fork and knife to eat first few bites or it would have been all over table. The ends of crust are thicker and easier to hold onto. The top of our Caprese salad a few tomatoes looked fresh and firm, but the tomatoes on the bottom were very soggy-mushy texture ( like they were older, we didn't eat those). The Mozzarella Cheese was very good. I would have liked more of the purée basil on top of each slice of Tomatoes, not just the ones on top. For what we got, prices seemed expensive. We both had a small bottle of water, shared the salad and pizza. 24.50 Euros. Without Tip. The people sitting next to us appeared to enjoy there dishes. The food presentation of there items was fancy. If we had been able to decipher the menu in English we most likely ordered something different. We went with what we could figure out. The place looked very clean. We did not use the bathrooms.
