Mamma Susanna's Italiano - Sacramento

The service was good, but the food took an eternity to arrive. The chicken marsala was nearly inedible, overwhelmed by an excessive amount of salt and an odd Alfredo sauce that completely masked any hint of the wine flavor it was supposed to have. The chicken had the texture of rubber rather than actual meat. The noodles were incredibly dry, and the sauce only added to the unappetizing experience, tasting like a lumpy, creamy salt rock. This was my first visit, and with such a disappointing initial impression, I have no intention of returning.

The service was outstanding, with waitstaff frequently checking to ensure we had everything we needed. However, the food was only average, typical of American-style Italian cuisine: the marinara sauce was thick, and the pasta was overcooked and not al dente. My seafood dish had several sealed shells, indicating that they were dead and not properly cooked. I’m relieved I recognized this, as consuming them could have led to food poisoning. The highlight of the meal was the delicious lemon dessert. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant if you're seeking authentic Italian food.

Having lived in Italy for five years, I was in search of an authentic Italian pizza experience, but Mamma Susanna's did not deliver. The paprika and sausage pizza I ordered had only six tiny pepperoni and four small pieces of sausage on it. I won't be returning. Best of luck to you if you decide to try Mamma Susanna's!

Such a wonderful, thoughtful staff in this reason Ristorante with Bland bread and sauces. My youngest one was the only one in our party to finish his little pasta with butter. The Bolognese lacked taste and the shrimps with pasta tasted only with lemon.

Delicious pasta, salad and bread. Everything tasted fresh and rich with flavor. Servings were generous. Staff was friendly and attentive. Felt like a family run business.
