Tacos Montero is a taco truck parked in the corner of the parking lot of a liquor store. The usual spots I go to were either closed and way too busy, so I saw this spot while driving and stopped by. The service was eh the guy was not the friendliest and he came off as rude. The wait was pretty long as well, but I waited in the car, since it was freezing outside.I ordered the regular asada burrito. The burrito was not that big and I felt like there was not as much meat inside either. Without any sauce, it was a bit dry as well.
My first yelp review, just felt i had to rate this place 6/5. The food is great. Get the orange sauce for your tacos
The food is so good!It is a taco truck on the corner in a parking lot so parking is limited. There are a few tables and chairs outside. They have a salsa bar with onions, cilantro, salsa. The green and red was my favorite. The orange was too spicy for me.We didn't wait too long even though they were really busy.We ordered the below:Mulita asada: it's like a tostada sandwich. the steak was so tender but had a nice crisp on the outside. The tortillas are freshly made. This was the first time I tried one and it now my new favorite!Carnitas taco: I am picky with carnitas and I loved it! Good flavor, tenderness, and a nice crispy outside. Asada torta: it wasn't my favorite and probably won't order it again. It wasn't terrible, just not my favorite.Horchata: one of my favorites. It's not too grainy and is creamy!
Honest review here: firstly they don't accept anything except cash. You would at least expect Venmo or something, but nope. The cashier told multiple people cash only and a lot left empty handed because who Carries cash these days? Secondly, the food was very expensive for a quality that didn't match it. 3.50/4.75 for tacos?? The tortillas were handmade which was good, however I was unsatisfied with the actual taco meat. I got 3 pastor and 2 asada. The meat just looked weird from the bat, and there definitely better options here in San Jose. The horchata was that fake powdery one you just mix in, also not very pleasant. The salsas were not really flavorful either. Overall the tacos were a 4/10 and this is coming from a Mexican woman who often eats authentic tacos. Better options, but remember to bring cash if you do come.
