Though it was nearly 2.30 closing time the owner greeted us warmly and explained the simple but eclectic menu. Unfortunately 2 items were no longer available, but we opted for an appetiser and dessert and no wine as we were driving. We apologised but madam assured us we could choose what we liked! We selected the grand salad de Drome, she said it was small) and pecodon profiteroles, followed by apple tart and raisin crumble. But to start we were given an amuse bouch of a cauliflower and chestnut soup creamy and flavourful, that we mopped out with our bread, we could have each had a whole bowl! When the salads arrived they were huge! A lovely combination pate, confite of chicken gizzards and sweet chestnuts on a warm salad of lettuce cucumber tomatos and olives. It was delicious. The profiterols were lovely little cheesy nuggets stuffed with grilled plums, yummy, both theses are apparently regional dishes. The tart and crumble were equally as scrumptious, and we were delighted with our choices. This restaurant hotel has been under new ownership for two years, so ignore the vitriolic post of 2012, it should be removed) and if the owner and her staff continue to offer such attentive genuine service and such great food they should attract people from far and wide. We loved it, thank you les Jeune Chefs!
As a group of 8 people we ate here and had a very nice (meal dessert, and that was more than enough). Very pleasant food, friendly and helpful staff, limited but reasonable wine list. Quite good value
Right about lunch time we found this very romantic terrace, shaded, small, intieme. With an original and creative menu. Sometimes in the more touristic villages most of the restaurants have almost identical menus. Not this one. Service very amicale, friendly. Very good house wine. In other words highly recommendable. The owner is also very proud of her hotel and informed us that all the rooms are different and very well appointed. If we are ever again in Saillans I would love to book a room here. The ride from Bourdeaux to Saillans is beautiful. We stayed in Mornans, 3 km from Bourdeaux, on a nature camping: Grange Neuve. This was the best, the most simple , and most quiet camping, with a stunning view. Aire Naturelle
We met friends for a meal Sunday at noon. Two formulas are offered, from one to forty euros and from the other to fifty, the wine and the aperitif are in addition. the 40 euro formula includes six dishes. It’s good but much too much, you need a strong appetite! count 60 euros per person (there are few choices for glass wine).
When arriving in Saillans we quickly had to find something to eat and ended up on the terrace of this nice restaurant in the middle of the town. The food was very good and the wines that came with it were of excellent quality.
