Everything was a bit pricey (but we had a Groupon so it cancelled it out). It was delicious and a really good food experience! Our waiter was nice enough to help us figure out if Ted Drewes was open. My boyfriend's lamb chops and moussaka were really good and my pasta really hit the spot. We left full and happy (but with no dessert because we went to Ted Drewes afterwards).
Bottom Line: Decent food. Respectful staff. Great atmosphere. This was my first time to the Spiro's South location. If you are looking for a nice place to have a quiet meal, I wholeheartedly recommend you consider coming here. Food: I ordered the Moussaka. It came with a couple stalks of broccoli. The Moussaka was good, but not amazing. It was interesting that they put zucchini in this dish; this was new to me and a nice touch. I guess there wasn't any flavors here that wow'd me. Plus, it just didn't seem fantastically fresh, as I was hoping. Maybe I expected more for $13. For dessert, I had baklava. I was pleased that they warmed the baklava. Also, it didn't appear that they just poured karo syrup on their version, which is always a big upset for me. Plenty of nuts filled this baklava, but I was also looking for more of the good stuff you usually find on the inside. I don't know exactly what it is called, but this version just seemed to be missing it. Atmosphere: You should really dress up when you go here. Don't do what I did and go in shorts and shirt. I was welcomed in all the same, but I just had wished I dressed up for the place. Low lighting, well-dressed wait staff and seemed very clean. Bonus: If you enjoy beer, purchase a bottle of Aris Greek Beer. It is very good, light beer. Thanks to the waiter, Billy, for recommending it. Question Mark: I found it unusual that my plate was warmed on a burner before serving the dish to me. I suspect that since the dish was probably warmed prior to serving, they just wanted to be sure to keep the dish warm while I partook of the meal.
This is some of the best Greek food I've ever had! Definitely a place to check out. Highly recommend the lamb chops and homemade hummus. The baklava is to die for too!
We went for New Years. I knew they had a consolidated menu however the prices were well jacked up too. They gave us some free salads to make up for the poor service. Probably won't be back.
Watson Arsenal, Part 1: I had the opportunity to dine at this intersection two successive gray and rainy weeknights. As it worked out, I ordered a similar dish at each restaurant. Here, Chicken Spedini was pounded chicken rolled in seasoned bread crumbs, char grilled then basted in olive oil, fresh garlic and lemon, three pieces that together may have made up one small breast, with what I believe was a small twice-baked potato, and asparagus/carrots. The glass of chardonnay was good $7). Service was two-star, ambience three-star, and the warm bread and butter that came out before the meal was 4-star very good. I wouldn 't object to going back, but probably wouldn 't suggest it to others, either.
