The nachos at happy hour make a great snack and it half off. Bravo to all the gang at Barefoot Bills. I am so glad Toby and Tara are still there. Its an added bounos to see them.
Hangin' with the beautiful manager. So, I enjoyed some coconut shrimp, hand cut potato chips, mango salsa and chips, and Toby's excellent (and original) shrimp dip. Did I mention chatting with the beautiful manager, Desiree? Nice!
I really liked Barefoot Bills Island Grill. The coconut shrimp is fabulous and the aloha chicken was the best I've had... I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great casual dining experience.
Come on Bill, put some shoes on, this is a restaurant.. Barefoot Bill's is in the back of one of those little pedestrian malls on St. George Street. You can also get to it from Treasury Street. Because of their location they are always busy at lunchtime, and I managed to get there right at high noon. But I found a seat at the bar and my server quickly brought me a beer. I had heard they have a nice fish sandwich (real grouper filet) so I ordered that and some fries. First of all, I must say this was a very good sandwich. The fries were also nicely done. Total cost for sandwich, fries and one beer was about 15 bucks. Not inexpensive, but not outrageous either. Service was about what one should expect in St. Augustine, a very pleasant young server with a smile on her face who could never be described as over-trained nor overly attentive. She was quite happy to bring me anything I asked for, but there was no anticipation on her part that I might want ketchup and salt for my fries or that I might require silverware (if having to ask for a napkin is the sort of thing that really bothers you, then you are probably not laid-back enough to dine in St. Augustine). I want to go back and try their appetizer menu sometime at Happy Hour when they have 99 cent draughts. I may try to talk Bill into having an appetizer special as well…after he makes enough money to buy some shoes.
Transitional phases. I wanted to offer our sincerest apologies to Tom and anyone else who may have come into JJ's Heritage Cafe/Barefoot Bill's Island Grill during our transitional phase. As of June 1st we should have a new updated menu with better quality food coming out of our kitchen. As of May 1st the new owners had just taken over and were (and still are) changing out products that we feel are not up to standards with the new name. At this time we are offering new specials every week to get honest opinions from our customers about what they like and dont like about our current selection. We have changed out the burgers (again), the onion rings, and added mushrooms and bell peppers to our philly cheese steak to mention a few. Please come back and see us again and let us know how we can continue to improve and satisfy you as our loyal customers. <br/ <br/ Desiree B.<br/ General Manager
