Au Ballon Rouge - Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Poor service, poor quality of products (wine, plates of cheese and charcuterie… and really overpriced. Many other nice places to go instead of this one.

Located right beside the market square, this is a great spot for a drink and snack, particularly on a warm day or evening. The place is very lively, with a happy atmosphere and excellent staff, who were not phased by my moderate French. There is an excellent wine list and their snack plates are good quality and value.

It is summer and it is warm... it is now 5-6 pm and you want to chill with some buddies around some wines instead of beers. THIS IS YOUR PLACE. During summertime go for their rose, only one choice, but IT IS amazing. You don't believe me? Use Vivino app on the bottle just to double check. You want to try wines (red, rose OR white? AND at a good price) then it is the place in St Germain en laye. The staff is amazingly friendly and will advise you accordingly and take a sharing platter. (Price/Quality is really correct).... Really don't be ashamed to tell them you don't know wines and that you want to try something. BUT... it is NOT a diner place, really go there to enjoy few sips (or bottles) of wines and have your diner somewhere else. !!BE AWARE!! For english speaker ONLY.... Hummm not sure how fluent they are in english. But I am sure they will do their best. Great for Friends, solo (so you can meet random people) and Couples eventually.
